Tasks / Exquisite Dérive
Go on a walking journey and every fifteen feet draw a chalk arrow in the direction you're going. At the end of the trip, leave a big pile of chalk so a stranger can continue your journey.
OR
Walk a short route alone, then send a collaborator the last segment of your trip so that they can pick up where you left off. You may complete this in separate cities by using more generic instructions (e.g. walk three blocks, then turn left). Finally, walk the complete route you and your collaborators have created.

As far as I can tell, most hashes use chalk. Do they mark out hashes some other way where you live?
I followed a short chalk trail, starting two blocks away from my house with a huge "SF0" in light purple/pink chalk, around my neighborhood for a short distance a week or two ago. I am now sure that it was a praxis for this task... but there is no posted completion! :(
I followed what appeared to be an exquisite derive last night. Saw arrows near the Yerba Buena Gardens and MOMA, and followed them all the way out and around several interesting locations till I ended up on Market around Beale. I'm sure I joined the derive abot halfway through, but I haven't backtracked yet.
Arrows are stilll clear and visible, and makes for a lovely evening walk. Assuming it was not someone from SF0... weird initials in several spots but I didn't write them down. Worth your time, though.

Oooooh, like hashing, but without the running and drinking. Well, probably the running, anyway.
