Tasks / Walk Button Restoration

This task is retired.

In 2004, the world was stunned, stunned, to read that most New York City "Press to Walk" buttons don't do anything at all. In the face of this crisis, some have opted to change the signs to a more accurate suggestion, thus restoring meaning to the world.

The fact remains that there are hundreds of function-less (or, at least, mislabeled) buttons scattered from NYC to Honolulu. Ergo, EquivalenZ, we ask that you:

1.) Find a traffic light button that you can prove does not function according to its signage, and then
2.) make that button work.

Ideally, you should restore the button to its originally intended (or, at least, indicated) function. If, however, you determine that the button could serve some more useful purpose, you may change the sign and implement your own feature, so long as you maintain sign/function equivalence. Bear in mind the meaning of your group and points assigned to this task: while a perfectly wonderful thing to do, "Push For Luck" stickers would not be considered valid completion of this task.
