Pick something about which you know very little to nothing. Pick a place where you would give a tour on this subject. Go there and scope it out, writing your tour as you go. Invite along a couple of people that will nod in agreement and "hmmmm" in interest at your tour. Hold up a sign that says, "FREE TOUR STARTS HERE." Lead people on a completely non-factual tour.
Bonus stars for the statistical survey or for gettting your false info included in someone's thesis.
