I feel slightly bad adding this, as it has sorta been one of my (extremely sad) party tricks the past few years - in fact, I'm so out of practise saying it the normal way, I tend to put my records in reverse alphabetical order because I remember it better. Also, it confuses the hell out of people trying to find files in my coursework portfolios...

As proof, there's a (hopefully working) upload of me saying the alphabet forwards, then backwards, as fast as I can - while staying understandable. It's on my Player Photograph page, as I couldn't work out a way to get .mp3s working in these text boxes...

If you don't believe I'm really doing it, there's a more sedate pace too - I prefer it backwards, as it rhymes so much better!

We had to memorize it in kindergarten. And sing it to the same tune.

The last line was something to the effect of "Now I know my Z-Y-X's; next time I might sing in Texas."

i taught this to myself when i was 4 or 5 and can still do it. teucer, did the version you memorized have you sing W really fast so it fits in the space that D does in the normal song?

i think the song can work both ways, with the first line either scanning

Z Y X dubya V U T
or
Z Y X doub-le-you V

The former.

To preserve the rhythm it messed with some middle letters.

EDIT: specifically: "O-M-N" occupy the same part of the tune as the normal "LM-NO-P." Then you get "F-E-D" instead of "Double-U-X" so there's no "and" in the final phrase.
