Misuse of Maps by Sir Ducksbane

March 17th, 2008 12:02 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Navigate a city or region using maps that do not represent that space.
For example, you can use a map of Central Park to traverse Loving County, Texas, or a map of the London Underground to find your way through SF MOMA.

Compare your expectations with your experiences.

At this point I feel like I kind of have two homes, one at school and one where I grew up. I decided to compare these two by using a map of the area around my school in Somerville, Massachusetts to navigate around the area behind my house in Oakham, Massachusetts. As I was making my way back my camera ran out of batteries, so the trip is not quite complete. If I get a chance, I might go back out at some point to get some pictures of the swampy region of Somerville and the old beaver construction in Davis Square.

Woah, that's some nice landscape out there.

The captions made me chuckle, especially the Powder house blvd photo.

big thumbs up
that's definitely what i had in mind
thank you for not crushing my dreams on the first task i wrote.

its outside the scope of this task, but i couldn't help but imagine you going to class or work, basically going about your daily routine, in the middle of all those trees.

it'd be really interesting to see people recreate their environments in completely different settings as a kind of extension of this task.

maybe i need to write a new task.
