Saucy Tales by R.E. Whipple

April 27th, 2010 11:32 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Every ancient condiment in the back of your fridge is a tale of neglect and abandonment. Tell us yours.

When I was a journalist for grandcentralmagazine.com, Central Michigan University's online magazine, I used to explore new (to me) tastes for a column-type deal with "Vegetarian Flavors" (I've been a picky vegetarian for two years). Anyway, so I bought this huge jar of tahini about ten months ago because I made my own hummus, but after the recipe, I never made hummus again. (Such a waste, I know). It sits in the back of the fridge, sadly, waiting for me to make more hummus or throw it away. I spent $10 at the health food store on the damned thing.

There can be more things in the life of tahini than just hummus, you know...
