Potted Plant Distribution by ThreeKoi

I acquired this plant when I moved into my home. The super sweet old lady who lived here before me had two and gave me one as a housewarming gift. I've spent the last three years protecting it from cold, making sure it got “partial sun” (figuring out what “partial sun” meant) and generally making sure it didn't die. Unfortunately, the sweet old lady (seriously, she was awesome) passed away over the summer.
Due to a job transfer I need to move and I found myself wondering what to do with her plant. I can’t take it with me and it has sentimental value. My solution was not so much to find a place that needed a plant, but a place that the plant needed.
My neighbor knew the old lady well and was upset when she passed. I put it in the wheel barrow and hauled it across the street (no easy feat, it’s a big potted plant!). I left it on my neighbor’s back patio with a note:
“This was a gift for us and we don’t want to leave it behind. We know you loved her, so please enjoy it for us. It blooms like crazy.”
Now the plant has a place to grow old and my neighbor has something to remember her by.

I was gifted a bunch of rain lilies in a similar manner by my then next door neighbor. I planted half in the ground for the next tenant, and took half with me in pots when I moved.
Yay for giving the plant a good home with someone who will love it.
