Honest Mail by Malaysian Eddy, Ricky Ricardo
December 1st, 2007 9:57 PM
Eddy:
It all began over a personal ad being answered on SFØ. Eddy desperately wanted to complete this task but was held back by not being a Bart PA member. The elusive Ricky Ricardo answered her public cry for aide.
They joined forces at Eddy's lair to create some honest mail. Eddy is a big fan of postal art and collects postcards during her travels and saves them for such an occasion as creating random mail art and leaving them in obscure places. Ricky likes getting away from his attention starved wife. All post cards were dropped off in the Mission.
Ricky:
This mail task is my first task in your great city. I play drums here before but never walk a derive. Eddy was nice enough to put the postcards into places where they gonna get mailed. It is so good to be outta Brooklyn that nasty smelly place, and instead be here making art cards.
Eddy make the first cards. My first one was "el imperialista." No me gustan los hombres imperialistas de mierda! So I thought about the imperial cigarro cubano for a moment and detourned this card, que era sin color, casi. With luck its better now and catches some eyes. It used be an advertisment for cigars but now says "el imperialista, con su vicio feo." on his sidewalk near i wrote "cuidado que enganyara ustedes tambien". in 'englais' that says 'the imperialist, with his ugly habit.' and 'beware that he will trick all of you, too.' imperialistas like to trick people and look like they are slick while they are tricking. especially these cigar smokers, it is kind of like diamonds, where they sell you silly things and tell you everyone looks sexy.
there is one foto of back of the card where i let loose little my opinion about imperialistas but is hard to see everthing on this foto. something bout su carácter bestial.
next i made 'x marks the spot' which is meditation on california oil spills. ew. poor little birds in ocean. after that cam mr. bojangles cause this card made me mad el negro con su ratito. i don't know why the spots but it was an intersting card before, the colors look better all after, much brighter with color pencils. not sure why this man is dancing. after that i thought 'california will beat the pants off your state, sucka!' because i am big fan of california my home here.
the tennis player i like not so bad as imperialista but is still symbol of culture not mine, not very good culture, you know? he always wears bad shirt, the tennis players. i wrote 'cero juego, lo peor va si perder.' next is hard to read style but i wrote 'el anarquismo, su fuerza insuperable' o algo asi.

I've said it before. I hope to say it again.
Some tasks are way better than their completions. This task is just the opposite. The task itself is kinda neat, but the completions are uniformly great. This one is no exception. Beautiful stuff, Eddy.

How many got there? (Did I miss that in the proof?)

I am counting on none of them being returned to me. However, I had a lot of fun making the cards and dropping them off in the Mission. I think I'm going to personally continue doing this in my free time.
