Information Insertion by Poisøn Lake
April 5th, 2009 5:40 PMI started by making zombie history pamphlets filled with handy facts about zombies including how seemingly normal "humans" came to be descended from them & how to celebrate zombie history month. After I had a substantial stack of pamphlets, I set up a few Zombie History Information Centers. After setting up the first information center I was contacted by The Prospector (the paper at my college) and asked to do an interview. I agreed on the condition that I would remain unknown even to the interviewer.
Aside from the pamphlets, I stuck some signs around town & did this task.
Everything Zombie History related was done in the name of one of two organizations; The Society for the Restoration of Zombie History & Descendants of Undead Humans. The SRZH is an elite group of historians, scientists, & interested parties, while DUH is more of a support group for individuals attempting to come to terms with their zombie ancestry.
There's a lot more detail included with the pictures, but I'm sure I've left some things out so I'll probably update this again soon.
Updates
April13th - as requested, I added a scan from the inside of the ZHM pamphlets. For whatever reason, I couldn't upload the word document, but luckily I saved a pamphlet for my portfolio. Which reminds me of an added bonus: this task helped me get into art school.
informational pamphlets
I began Zombie History Month by making pamphlets, which are an excellent source of information.
zombiehistoryinformationcenter
I kept noticing the empty free paper stands on campus. They were an obvious candidate for this task since they were intended to distribute information, but sadly contained none.
prospector article
So, the best part about this is that I'm not on the newspaper staff. They don't even know who I am. After I set up the first Zombie History Information Center, someone from the staff googled Zombie History Month & found my blog (http://poisonlake.blogspot.com/) where I'd been posting ZHM updates. I did an email interview using a pseudonym. deliciously awesome & spylike.
Historic Zombie Town Plaque
To reach beyond the demographic of free paper readers, I installed plaques on both entrances to town. This is the second one I put up, which is a fairly vast improvement from the first.
Zombie History Plaque
The "Welcome to Marysville" zombie plaques were my original idea for dimensional leakage, but I think it works well in this context too. Note the nifty use of the county seal. I'm only now noticing it has a typo. crap.
signwithtext.jpg
Here's the first sign I put up, I used made a stencil for the word Marysville, but got lazy & hand painted the rest, which explains the sloppy, slanting text.
organization board
This board was already full of information, but lacked Zombie History Information. Now it's full of zombie goodness. It informs passerby that the Society for the Restoration of Zombie History meets every Tuesday at noon at the local country club.
I actually made two editions to this board.
The SRZH seal, which is shown in the previous picture & the DUH (Descendents of Undead Humans) logo, which is the yellow-ish triangle on the right.

no one's ever called me (or anything I've done) hardcore before. I'd tip my hat or make some other antiquated gesture if I were wearing the appropriate garment.
But I'm not...so here's a bear:

What does the information pamphlet say? Can you upload that? I'd like to get to know more about zombie history!
I added a scan from the inside of the pamphlet. It's still a bit hard to read unless you download the file. I'll try to figure out my technical difficulties & get a more readable upload.
Those scans are perfect. Completely legible.
My goodness, THIS is marvelous... How on earth could one top this... The answer is one couldn't, but should do the task anyway.
Absolutely brilliant! Thoroughly realized, good concept!
There is a Marysville in Washington also.....
How about a Dissemination of the same info here in Washington....
At the time, I didn't have a functional copy of any Word compatible software so it's a weird file type.
What's the file type? I can add it to the "things you can upload" list.
it's an abiword document .abw, I think.
I have something that can edit the files into a readable/downloadable format. I can just make a pdf for it, if you haven't already figured something out.

Oh, wow, this is as multitasking hardcore as it gets. No more points, sorry.
