Explore Greatness In Art by Darkaardvark

INSTRUCTIONS: Purchase or create replicas of the greatest work of art in the history of humanity.

Richard Strauss: Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Opus 11 for Horn and Piano.

So, I guess it would've been better if I'd done the entire piece, and replicated it in a truer fashion, but I looked in my closet, and I couldn't find a symphony orchestra. (If you've got one just lying around that you're planning to throw out, let me know!) But I've also fulfilled the 'purchase' part of the task- I own at least 3 versions of it, including Dennis Brain's masterful (maybe even definitive) recording under Wolfgang Sawallisch with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

So here's me, unaccompanied, sadly.

I don't know why more people haven't favorited/commented on this. Your playing is beautiful. I think maybe nobody took the time to download it. And I like the fact that it's a solo performance. It sounds nice.

Thanks. That means a lot to me, even more because this is such an old completion. I was always a little bid sad that this got passed over, but I was a much newer player, and I took it in stride.

I did find that orchestra to solo with, but that story (and that recording) is for another day, or another praxis... someone should pester me about it someday.

I think it pretty much goes without saying that in a year-and-a-half, my horn-playing has improved considerably, along with my tasking skill.

Roswald, thanks for commenting. I wouldn't have seen this otherwise, having joined many months after it happened, and it is good.
