The place to go for mundane, practical and obscure SFZero info. If we don´t know at least we know with whom to make a fool of ourselves by asking.

Eras? Shplank? The media folder? What podcast?

We really like to answer questions. Is kind of embarrasing.
Ah, and we always forget how to embed youtubes too.

How can I embed a youtube clip in a comment?

Praxis is the Process
posted by Waldo Cheerio on February 19th, 2010 3:47 AM

@KingofSpain:
A Praxis is the process of completing a task. A proof is your writeup. Often, there is not too much of a distinction between what you did, and how you documented it, as most tasks are directed at the SF0 audience, and so your praxis and your writeup both contemplate the same message, goal, and style.

As far as plural nouns are necessary, you might refer to someones completions, but I focus more on the verbs, and will compliment someone for their tasking. Rather than being prescriptive about the "correct" way to use these terms though, you will be understood perfectly well if you say "great praxes." If you want to make a subtle distinction between what they did, how they did it, and how they described it though, the nomenclature can be helpful to convey what you mean.

As to comment responses, there are three partial answers. First of all, by befriending any player, you are privy to updates on anything they do on your "updates" page: http://sf0.org/ophelein/updates/ . If you want to check for any responses on anything you ever wrote, you would do to check through the archive of your "texts": http://sf0.org/ophelein/texts/. Finally, if you want to actively control some sort of notification scheme for particular comments, you should use this tool: http://sf0.org/Spidere/Keep-Your-Eyes-Peeled/

Cheers,
~Waldo

is it a task until it's completed, at which point it becomes a praxis? how does one pluralize 'praxis'?

furthermore, is there a place where all of the things that people write in response to things you've written hang out? a place were they can be found without digging? I kind of respect the fact that they don't seem to be handed to you, it's a nice excuse to spend more time here...

don't think you've seen the last of me, I will be back to question you silly.

The e-mail to mediafolder is good!

I am using the e-mail for sending files to my media folder all the time(not really all the time, but all the time I'm uploading). It didn't work a few days when the era was reset, but now it's good again and it safes lot's of time when you have to upload lot's of pictures.

First of all, the media folder *is* confusing

Also, in theory you can send files to your account by email, but I have never be able to do that.
And the duplicate pics in the bottom are going to be there always, that´s the "file pile", it confused me a lot too. But for long praxii (say, Lincoln's Player Picture) they turn into thumbnails, at the bottom, so they are not duplicates anymore.

Some people don't insert files into the write-up at all, so all the story goes in the captions.

(Are you dizzy yet?)
