I feel almost morally opposed to this task...

I feel like I need to put in an IRB application before I complete this task...

Ha! We used to do this all the time when I was young-- a good friend of my parents was a mushroom expert.

Just look for the ones with pink gills-- they're edible meadow mushrooms!

Hm, of course, I think the pool of people who'd bid on it is pretty small...

No, it's staying on my wall. I stuck a picture my boyfriend took on the side of it, so I think it's now a permanent part of our art collection.

Hm, I'm a little concerned about the lack of sunlight in the carpark-- I think that unless someone rescues the plant, it'll starve.

Hrm... I think, given the fact that I clipped some wires in this process, that I'd need a soldering iron to make it work again.

Perhaps I can make it work for some other function besides being a clock-- that seems like a more appropriate continuation of this task.

Well, as I mentioned, we still have CD Alley here, and I think Schoolkids may still have other locations in nearby towns (a lot of local chains have a store/restaurant in Chapel Hill, one in Durham, and another in Raleigh, to complete the triangle.) However, I live in Chapel Hill, and as long as I've been here, that place has been a landmark.

Yet at the same time, I try to remind myself that resistance to change would mean death. So. Chapel Hill lives on through change. Good luck to whatever replaces Schoolkids.
