Art Burglar by Evil Sugar

May 15th, 2008 8:48 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Steal something physical from another player. Create a piece of art using this object. Be very careful when choosing said object. Something as mundane a newspaper or an old box may have personal value to its owner.

Mission: Art Burglar

At Zer0gee's request, the White Team has been recruited to complete this task.

Theft requires much skill, so before beginning the mission, the White Team Leader trained with an evil master:

.

After three days of training, the White Team Leader was confident that the mission would be successful.

.

Part 1 - Obtaining the Target Object

Evil Sugar had other business at the home of Sparrows Fall. The White Team hitched a ride in Evil Sugar's purse.

The gummies wanted to steal something that Sparrow wouldn't notice was missing. Also, Sparrow was at home for the duration of the gummies' stay. How would they take something without Sparrow noticing? The White Team decided that the best plan was to steal something from the bathroom. Evil Sugar took them in there, still hidden inside the purse.

Once inside the bathroom, the White Team went straight for the medicine cabinet.

.

They went all the way to the back. The journey took a long time. Evil Sugar started to get nervous. Would Sparrow suspect something? Finally, the bears found what they were looking for:

.

Ricola cough drops. For some reason, Sparrow had four bags of cough drops. (Trying to get high on cough medicine perhaps?) Surely one already-opened bag would not be missed. The gummies loaded the cough drops into Evil Sugar's purse. With the stolen object safely concealed, the gummies hid themselves in the purse as well.

.

After that, the White Team sat in total darkness (inside the purse) for 10 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds. (They were most displeased about the delay. They understood that Evil Sugar had to put on a production of Macbeth for another task, but did Evil Sugar really have to stay and watch six episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD afterwards?*)

However, the gummies did eventually make it back to Gummyland safely. With their loot. Well done, White Team.

Part 2 - Taking Inventory

The gummies were extremely pleased to have stolen an object that contained lots of smaller objects. (Gummies are easily amused). They examined the cough drops. According to the outside of the package, there should have been 19. Careful count revealed that only 17 drops remained.

.

This meant that the gummies had the following items for use in their artistic endeavors:
- 17 cough drops
- 17 cough drop wrappers
- 1 slightly torn package

Part 3 - Creating the Art

Gummy bears have very particular tastes when it comes to art. They like pictures of bears. So when it came time to make something from Sparrow's cough drops, they decided to make a picture of a bear.

They did a preliminary sketch:

.

Then they began creating their art.

PICT0161.JPGPICT0162.JPGPICT0171.JPG.

Unfortunately, the White Team soon discovered that something in Elmer's glue causes the cough drops to dissolve. The Team Leader could easily spot the difference between a non-dissolved unglued cough drop (top) and one that had been glued (bottom).

.

This was disturbing both because it required the gummies to come up with a new method for fastening the cough drops (which weren't sticking) AND ALSO because some of the gummies had eaten a fair amount of this rather caustic glue, thinking that it might taste like frosting. (It didn't.)

The White Team decided to use tape instead. This worked much better, and they soon had their bear assembled.

There was a problem though. The bears had diverged from the design sketch, and had several wrappers left over, as well as the scraps from cutting out the basic bear shape.

The White Team Leader realized that the extra wrappers could be stuffed into the package, to give the finished artwork more of a 3D feel. Here is the finished artwork:

The White Team was pleased with their work, but Evil Sugar felt guilty for stealing from Sparrow. After all, Sparrow had just donated most of an afternoon to helping Evil Sugar complete "Fun With Food," a task that Sparrow had already completed and therefore could not get points for. Evil Sugar convinced** the White Team that they should give their art to Sparrow.***

Now, all that remained was to come up with an interesting way to give the artwork to Sparrow...

(TO BE CONTINUED....IN ANOTHER PRAXIS)

*NOTE: The Buffy marathon was an important cover for all this criminal activity. Sparrow would have been seriously suspicious if Evil Sugar had left without watching all those episodes. Really.

** NOTE: Evil Sugar does not condone the use of torture. However, the white gummies are rather tasty, so feel free to draw your own conclusions as to what type of "persuasion" was used to convince the bears to part with their masterpiece. NOM NOM NOM.

*** NOTE: It could be argued that by giving the stolen items back (in the form of art), the items were not actually stolen, but borrowed. This logic is incorrect. If you don't believe me, go steal the crown jewels.**** Then, once you've been caught, offer to give them back, and claim that it wasn't stealing.

**** NOTE: If you do steal the crown jewels, try to get the Queen of England to join SF0. That way, if you make artwork out of the crown jewels, you could post it as praxis for this task. The gummy bears would totally vote for you. (They will not, however, go to jail with you if you get caught.)

The White Team has been eating potentially toxic glue. It is recommended that you refrain from nomming on them.

The gummies are well armed. They do not fear your puny knives of vengeance.

Gummies from all 5 teams will fight together in the face of adversity.

(Also, the White Team is particularly adept at paw-to-paw combat, and needs no weaponry beyond what nature has already provided them.)

Yeah, I didn't think gummies had arms.... just little paws. (Of course, in the US, we hall have the right to Bear Arms... even Gummie Bear Arms).

By the way, thank you for helping me to rediscover the glories of gummies and the so-apt words "nom nom nom!"

Do we also have the right to arm bears? The gummies hope so.

Rainy is pleased that criminal activity was taking place under her nose.

Also, the animated gif? Genius. Evil genius.
