The Death of Public Life In The Age of Insatiability by Haberley Mead
April 26th, 2008 5:26 PM*Yes, I know I don't have many, if any, picture proofs for this task, mainly because through many reasons (some of which become obvious in the task) I didn't have any camera equipment on me. I will have some pictures taken on the day by those around me soon, but at the mo you'll have to take it on faith.*
Written from midnight to midnight, on a day that I felt to be fairly interesting by my standards. Some of the times are a little vague, but it all happened in the order I've written at roughly the times I've written. I've realised just how difficult a task like this is if you're trying to have fun AND document yourself having fun at the same time...

THE DAY
00:00 - The day starts with me finishing playing Guitar Hero 3 online against someone in America. I win by about 60,000 points.
00:02 - I return upstairs to my room and read up on what has been said on the Uber-Skype-conversation between various SF0 players.
00:03 - I check SF0 for one last time before I go to bed, in case of any new comments or praxes having been put up.
00:06 - *Thought* My God, these new-fangled comment boxes are really odd...
00:10 - Commented on Tom's kylehamilton.com plug in Lincoln's "Explore Greatness in Art".
00:12 - Remove a buggy app from Facebook, as I think I've got too many already...
00:13 - I accidentally comment flag one of GY0 Tom's comments, due to me not being able to tell a plus sign and a minus sign apart.
00:16 - I realise that this new piece of kit on SF0 can give you the option to flaunt power, and try to comment flag every unwanted SF0 Daemon comment on the praxes. I get bored after about two.
00:23 - I close the internet browser window, and am abnout to go downstairs to wash up before bed, then notice some dirty plates, cups etc. in my room and take them with. I then go and brush teeth, rinse my mouth with blue liquid and then attack any forming pustules on my face with another variety of blue liquid.
00:29 - Come back upstairs and am about to shut the computer down when Someone strikes up a conversation with me briefly.
00:41 - The chat, now considerably less brief, ends and I shut down the computer.
00:45 - Go to the toilet again, not before scaring the crap out of my housemate by looming outside the door with a box of Weetos. He shall never understand me and my ways.
00:48 - Return upstairs and remove all the assorted bits of newspaper, paint and canvas from my bed and its surrounds.
00:51 - I get undressed, ready for bed.
00:52 - Stand naked in front of my top-half mirror (as I am occasionally wont to do) and examine my body. *Thought* Despite the fact that my collarbones and hips still really stick out, I'm not nearly as scrawny as I used to be - finally filling out!
00:53 - After an absurdly long day, I check my alarm for the next day, turn out the lights and shuffle off to bed.
SLEEEEEEEP
08:51 - I awake, and lie in bed a bit. Am I early? Did I miss my alarm? I don't remember it going off, did I turn it off in my sleep?
09:00 - Oh no wait, there it is.
09:01 - I get myself an urgently-needed glass of water to combat the fact that I tend to sleep with my mouth wide open, and walk into the shower.
09:20 - After a good deal of a-scrubbin' and a-singin', I get out of the shower and attack my face again with that mysterious blue substance.
09:25 - *Thought* Hmm... nice day outside today, maybe go for a firespin later?
09:26 - I know I'd forget if I don't do it now, so I grab my MP3 player off the charger and put it in my bag for later.
09:28 - *Thought* Rubin? Here? Tasking again? Good lord!
09:40 - I finally finish reading up on the new tasks and comments submitted overnight.
09:42 - One of the other members of the ultimate Frisbee committee grabs me on MSN, and inquires as to whether I'll be at training today. I have to decline, as there are grand plans afoot...
09:50 - After perusing the Internet a bit more (see below for more details), I finally decide to get out of my towels and get dressed.
09:55 - I start to put my bag together for tonight, and whatever I may do then.
10:01 - I recieve a text message from Shia, with whom I would be spending the remainder of the day, explaining that her arrival at our fair town of Stafford would be imminent. (It actually said 'Be in Staf about 11 ish' but I feel my way would make for a better text)
10:02 - As my hair dries, I realise I can't see my hairbrush anywhere and start a mad search for it.
10:04 - Find hairbrush underneath the case of my computer. No, I don't know either.
10:06 - Get myself a bowl of weetos for breakfast.
10:09 - In the rush to finish them before I have to get my bus, I bite a hole through the side of my tongue. The following part of the cereal tastes a whole lot more iron-y...
10:11 - I finish my breakfast, and not a moment too soon!
10:12 - Finish packing my bag for tonight. Wallet, money, MP3, crunchie bar... all the vitals.
10:15 - I go down to the bathroom and start poking myself in the eyes with bits of plastic - putting contacts in has never been much fun...
10:18 - I manage to drop one of them behind the radiator. I pick it up, wash it off, and pop it back in. Sorted.
10:22 - I finally manage to get them both in, and realise I'm now late for the walk to my bus.
10:23 - Remember that I need new underwear for the next day, and grab some off the drying rack and stuff it in my bag.
10:25 - Put my new trainers on, and go for a run!
10:40 - Only just manage to make it to the bus on time, and have a nice sit down as I fight for breath. I also notice that I get some odd looks from the passengers when I pick up four used bus tickets off the floor, but that's a task for another day...
10:44 - the French uni student in front of me randomly turns around and asks me something about working in Stafford. Unfortunately I'm still kinda shellshocked from my sprint, and don't know what she's asking me. No new friend there then.
10:53 - The No. 9 bus pulls up outside university, and I disembark.
10:56 - Being the impatient sod I am, I send a text message to the two people I'm meant to be meeting there askig where they are.
10:59 - Get a reply from one of them - Shia's on the bus, should be here in five minutes.
11:00 - I realise I need money for the train later, and go to the ATM outside.
11:03 - The queue in front of me disperses eventually and I can get ten quid out.
11:04 - I get to the SU, and sit and talk with the old lady who works there about coursework deadlines, word limits and the like.
11:05 - Realising that I have plenty of time to sit around, I start up SF0 on one of the workstations and start transcribing this task.
11:08 - Shia and our mutual friend Paul arrive.
11:09 - We engage in a conversation about students, and their behavioral tendencies. mainly, the freshers this year being a bunch of shut-in lightweights.
11:15 - I finally get a reply from Rich (the other guy I texted when I got here), who is evidently running a touch late.
11:19 - I discover that tonight's gig has been upgraded from the smaller Birmingham Academy 2 to the Main Academy.
11:34 - I recieve a text from one of my housemates, nd reply with the perinent answer. ...I honestly don't remember what the text was, but it says I wrote one in my notes so I guess it's true. Why would I lie to myself?
11:37 - Enter a discussion about Rock Band, mainly about why it's so damn expensive over here in Europe.
11:50 - Rich arrives to take my camera off my hands for the day, so he can do some official stuff for the bar tonight. He leaves shortly thereafter.
11:54 - The three of us go to Gradex 08, a graduate show at uni where we get to see what we're letting ourselves in for next year with our Final Year Projects.
(NOTE: Can't be bothered to write out all my actions to this detail any more, the following is an abridged version)
12:15 - Leave Gradex to catch the bus.
12:33 - Visit Too Fat Goblins briefly.
12:39 - Wax Lyrical about the great comedians of our time.
12:43 - Get lunch - jacket potatoes for all!
12:56 - go to sweet shop and buy lots of gummy bears.
13:10 - Try not to spend money while looking around Waterstone's.
13:20 - Say bye to Paul as we head for the train station.
13:31 - Break the ticket machine with cunning use of trying to pay with a debit card.
13:42 - Relentlessly mock Shia's accent.
13:46 - Get on the train for Birmingham New Street.
13:56 - Sit on train, writing this documentation up before I forget things.
14:07 - Get a text from the Frisbee people, who have obviously not talked to each other and don't realise I'm not coming today.
14:11 - Suppress fit of giggles as drunk man in the end of the train bawls out an unusual rendition of 'Yesterday'.
14:18 - Get bored, and play dots and boxes against Shia. Thanks to a major cock-up on my part, I lose.
14:25 - Get on new train to Stechford.
14:41 - Arrive in Stechford.
14:56 - Arrive at Shia's house. Having nothing to do for the while, we sit and watch telly. Ooh, fun.
Telly, talking, and choccy bars...
17:01 - Shia's parents arrive back from wherever they were. I get to finally meet them.
17:15 - Leave for train to Birmingham.
17:23 - Arrive at Birmingham. Mosey about for a bit, and meet Shia's mate Nik.
17:35 - Arrive at Birmingham Academy, only to find out that the line is a good 150 yards long already.
17:36 - Nik meets some of his friends near the front of the line and as such we were some of the first in.
18:12 - We get inside, and manage to pick a spot near the stage with a good view.
18:26 - The place gets PACKED, and I desperately search around the outskirts for a toilet.
18:41 - I notice the two punk-rock lesbians in nurse's outfits next to us starting to make out with each other. This continues pretty much throughout the night. I get a mouthful of mohawk every time they turn, and can barely see the stage over them.
19:05 - The support band, Templeton Pek, make their way onto stage. Very good, sort of thrash rock stuff. I applaud, but no jumping about just yet.
19:50 - They leave the stage, and I know that I can't wait for the main act.
20:00 - I wait. Turns out I CAN wait, I just don't like it.
20:05 - The crowd starts to get really impatient, as do I.
20:15 - I scream, whoop, holler, etc. along with the crowd as Mindless Self Indulgence finally get to the stage.
This next bit I don't know the times of, but I was doing pretty much the same thing all the way through - I go FUCKING MENTAL. Jumping up and down, fists pumping in the air, singing along at the top of my voice, the works. What can I say? I like MSI!
21:55 - We leave the gig, sweaty and exuberant. That was fantastic. I can't hear out of my left ear (still can't btw), but was so so worth it!
21:59 - I watch some of the drunker people sitting on top of a street sign, hurling bottles across the road at the bootleg t-shirt sellers.
22:06 - Shia finally stops talking to people in the queue to go back in to the club, and we set off to find her parents.
22:12 - We meet up with her parents and go the chippy for dinner,.
22:24 - We get back, and eat.
22:35 - The telly goes on, and everybody crashes in front of it. It was a good day.
23:18 - One of my contact lenses goes walies, and I can't find it anywhere.
23:24 - I find it under my eyelid. Put it in solution, take the other one out, and continue watching telly in Blurrivision (tm).
That's it! Everything of import (plus lots of not so much iport earlier) that happened. Hope you enjoyed, there will be a test.
THE DAY IN MUSIC
Most of my life revolves around music, and so i thought it prudent to put the songs I listen to in a seperate place. Ironically, because my day was so filled with doing things and writing down what was being done, I hadn't really had time to listen to any! What I have listened to is below.
00:03 - The Beach Boys, 'Good Vibrations'
00:05 - UB40, 'King'
00:10 - The Chemical Brothers, 'Out of Control'
00:17 - The Coral, 'Far From the Crowd'
09:12 - MSI, 'Bring the Pain' (as sang by myself in the shower)
09:18 - MSI, 'Uncle' (as sang by myself in the shower)
10:25 - The Beat, Wha'ppen? (the album) (and point of note, they're known as the English Beat over there in America)
11:23 - Madonna, 'Tell Me' (on the radio)
11:39 - Rogue Traders, 'Voodoo Child' (on the radio)
13:59 - Meat Loaf, 'Back Into Hell'
14:02 - GrownAtHome, 'My Pet Bomb'
14:07 - MSI, '1989'
14:09 - Red Hot Chilli Peppers, 'Tear'
14:11 - Drunk Guy on the train, 'Yesterday (Excerpt)'

On SF0 itself, I commented three times in the day:
at 00:10 - (in reply to Tom's kylehamilton.com plug) - "This deserves every flag it gets..."
at 00:16 - (on GY0's The Fickle Sky) - "Wow, you can comment flag the Daemon - a true sign of resentment towards your task being taken off!"
and at 00:18 (on my own Player Photograph) - "Well thanks anyway - consider this comment vote a thank-you for the effort :P"
...Aaand that's my day! Well and truly deprivatised! Sorry about the wall of text, by the way! I've uploaded photos of the actual notebook below, if you're a glutton for punishment and want to read the whole damn thing...

Thanks for reminding me to go read Freakangels. I stopped on episode 3. I have some catching up to do now.
Yes, much relentless mocking of my accent, thank you very much :P
And you STILL can't hear properly? Jimmy did a good job.
Detail, detail, detail. Nicely done sir.
Yup - considering the doctor's today, something's not right with it when i can't hear after this long...
And also, your accent is hilarious. I have nothing to apologise for.
...Buuuurmingum :P
Why is Rock Band so expensive in Europe?
Because Activision are bastards, it would seem. In America it's $180, but in Europe it's 180 POUNDS! Absolute codswallop, I say.
What the hell? Did someone forget to do a money conversion or something?
Geez.
No, they just decided to finalise software prices on a laughable currency.
Intricacy, you has it.
