Lounge Against the Machine by Ink Tea

INSTRUCTIONS: Document yourself not working at work.

OR

Create or introduce something into your office that causes or strongly encourages your coworkers to not work at work.

OR

Sleep in or on a government building.

I'd forgotten all about this task until I saw someone else's proof. Now, there's something to say about my completion of this task, being 1) that we work really really hard here, really really long hours, but 2) we know how to goof off and have fun.

For instance. This is a child belonging to the artistic director, laying about on the floor, playing with an empty kleenex box.

And this is my coworker, J, with a dogbone on a plate.

And this is me screwing around with PhotoBooth.

And this is just madness.

But these are just regular things that we do to deal with the often very long hours. Today was one of those weird days when I was alone in the office almost all day with just a couple hours with a coworker, and a timid intern. So I actively have been goofing off today, and documenting it for this task. Included: distracting a coworker to take a goofy picture, spinning in chair, dance party, photocopying self, dancing in the gallery, going without shoes, messing around on the internet, sitting under a coworker's desk, putting a sweater and a face on some boxes in my coworker's chair, and cartwheeling in the gallery. I also spent some time staring at the ceiling and distracted my intern.

I wouldn't post this sort of thing, for the impression it might give, but I work really hard most of the time- bringing work home with me, working late often, etc. Now I'm going to lay around on the floor for a while...

More 'J with dogbone photos', please!

Which is to say, I like it best!

Cute! I would like to have more, but that picture was taken this spring. Today's task was completed in the blue ninja hoodie.

Cartwheels in a gallery sound like fun!

You guys know how to have fun at work...

If I did that in my office I would get so many looks, and then my boss would probably take me aside to tell me how inappropriate I was being. I had to really hide it when I completed the Office Arms Race task at work.

Charlie-

We work really long hours, for being salaried, and take on a lot of responsibility and make a lot of things happen, so our boss (being a good boss) lets us be goofy, blow off steam, and dress creatively (as long as it's appropriate to the occasion). It's a good give and take.
