Talk Like A Pirate Day by Ink Tea

September 20th, 2006 4:47 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: For some of us, everyday is Talk Like a Pirate Day. For others, it only comes around once a year. September 19th _IS_ Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Your task, is simply to observe the day, completely. Talk like a pirate all day long. No exceptions from Midnight to Midnight. Not a single less than salty word should escape your lips.

I may be easier to talk like a pirate, if you are dressed like a pirate, so perhaps plan on combining tasks.

(If the day has passed and you still want to complete the task, then make your own Talk Like a Pirate Day and ... well, talk like a pirate all day. The rules above apply.)

For some of us, talk like a pirate day is just too easy. But International Talk Like a Pirate Day might just be the best day ever to have off work.

9:16am I had me a tofutti cutie for breakfast. I might sail to the grocer's for some citrus.

5:26pm Arrr... Sailed to the South Seas of Edina to deal in fine furs and fabrics with the bonney miss star5 in her fine fast vessel Violet. She brought me back to port, and then I took me own fine vessel across the Isle of Mississippi to Pig's Eye. We docked ourselves first at a merchant's port known as "Whole Foods" for something to stave off the scurvy, and then at a place known to locals as "Cahoots", to acquire some tea, and to hide out for a time. Then we made our way back towards our home port, stopping off at the Markets of Mississippi for some more citrus. I discovered me mast was holding strong, but me riggings needed to be repaired. So it was back to port with me.

Also, so yarr not confused, when I say we, I mean ayyye! (er... "I") Bonney miss star5 had dealings to do with someone's mother.

I've but one more errand this afternoon, but would love to have some cause to sail more this evening. Send me a cellular missive if yarrr interested.

At one point, as I was standing in line in a grocery store with just oranges in my hands, I overheard the clerks discussing my jolly rogered bike. "Arr you discussin' me ship?" I asked. "Oh! Is that yours out there?" the clerk responded. I looked down at the clothes I was wearing and gave her an incredulous look.

I was yarrrred at all day from passing cars.

Didn't make it all day

I started this when I got to work, not even thinking of the task, but it just didn't last. I found it difficult to talk about matters internetical while sounding all piratical. Plus I'm in the UK until Thursday, so I already sound different enough to teh folks around here. :p

I salute you, Captain!

Seriously. Having the day off work helped tremendously. I have a "uniform" that I have to follow at work (polo shirts and closed toes shoes), and they'd be more than a little weirded out by the pirate garb, the wig, and the accent. I showed them photos today, and they were mostly amused, but slightly afraid.

And it was fun to do a tour of grocery stores, buying citrus fruit.

It helps that I pull this shit all the time. I know I come off like kind of a quiet girl sometimes here, but I'm full of trouble and not really so quiet. I did it last year, too.

Inky: Yar. I be pleased to know that I aided in drivin' _the_deuce_ balmy.
Star5: cute cute cute! will you drive me somewhere balmy too? i like warm weather.
Inky: Yar! I'll be plundering your booty before you know it!

I didn't even know this task existed! Rats! I could very easily have talked like a pirate all day. I sure did for the just about entirety of Piratey Monkey's TLPD party. I were even lashed and in a swordfight. Arrr.
