Clever Vandalism by JTony Loves Brains

March 13th, 2008 10:18 PM / Location: 37.780822,-122.4641

INSTRUCTIONS: Vandalize cleverly. Go beyond simple graffiti and do something extra special.

I don't know why I find this so funny. I saw this ad while I was on the bus, and immediately the caption came to mind, and it still makes me laugh. It has something to do with the self-satisfied look on his face, and the taut fore arms, and the idea of heroic vibrators.

It was harder to accomplish than it looks. When I saw it on the corner of 6th and Geary(a mere half block and almost in visual line of the police station), I had nothing with which to make a mark. I walked the 6 blocks back to Arguello and the Office Max just to get something to write with. I bought the largest sharpie they had, chisel tipped and everything. On returning I found it woefully inadequate to the task. Clearly (no pun intended) there is something in the plexiglass to keep it slick, to keep the sharpie from sticking. I even let it dry for a bit before returning to go over some of the letters again, but it was no use. The new sharpie smeared and spread thin the old sharpie making a thick dark line impossible.

If you want to see it in person, the location is precise.

Edit: I've added two more, both on the corner of Filmore and McAlister.

Hi Magpie,
It is on the corner of 6th Avenue and Geary, out in the Richmond District, on a bus shelter right next to the Kaiser French Campus building. Satellite view of this map shows the exact location.

Ah, I thought it was downtown and so managed to wander into the tenderloin.

Fortunately when I wander into the tenderloin, I end up running into folks for drinks, as can be seen by Ms. Niddle's current pic!

Which she changed, so this no longer makes sense.
