SFZEROSAT by GYØ Vicki, Flea, Loki, Haberley Mead, Sombrero Guy, Kyle Westwood

June 1st, 2008 2:35 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make a standardized test for other SFZero players to take. It should include a numeric metric for judging their achievement. Get at least three players to take it and include their results in your praxis.

Intro

With the SFZEROSAT bar set pretty damn high, I knew I'd have to go beyond a standard question/answer paper in order to be able to bring in the votes. To this end, this SFZEROSAT came in two parts, an Audio test, and a Visual test...

...Oh, and it was hard.

Audio test

1. Lowteck
2. 750
3. CG0
4. Chrononautic Exxon
5. Shålaco/Spidere*

6. 1st, 4th, 10th.
7. A Clue, Loki, Sutro Tower.
8. The Fire Hydrant Conspiracy Theory, Make the News, Mayor of Claycord.
9. Remote Control Bus Stop Rave, Flash Mob, Bus Stop Seating Conversion.
10. The goth/hippie war is beginning

*Either answer was acceptable for this question. I was going for Shålaco using the Senatorship connection, but a number of players pointed out that Spidere was also a valid answer, due to California or something like that.
Points were awarded based on how much correct detail was given that wasn't obvious from the sounds.

Visual Test

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
1. Lincoln
2. zer0gee
3. Bex
4. Lola
5. The Animus

6. A Clue
7. European football championship/Austria suck.
8. The Graphic Sonnet
9. We like your /bike/
10. Distract the Mailman

11. Would you invite two strangers to your home for dinner?
12. Emergency/Power Off
13. UofA
14. Sutro Tower
15. Tangent

Marks were awarded based on how close the answers given were to the truth. 0.5 marks were subtracted for giving four answers to the same question (You know who you are...)

So will everyone else...

Yes.

Flea, where are you from?

I'm one of (currently) three active players from Northern Ireland, possibly Ireland as a whole...

I imagined that, and it looked funny. Ruffling someone's mustache seems intrusive and awkward. I want to see it done.

I don't imagine it's much to look at. But the three times it's been done to me have been tender, peculiar, and offensive (one each). Happily my stock reply to 'Is that real?' - 'Try pulling it and see if I sock you.' - tends to keep fingers at bay.

Half the fun of your test is reading the answers. Loki's suggestion that the goth/hippie/punk war is MN0 burning Olly at the stake made me giggle. I was a bit surprised at first glance, to see my sonnet as the YouTube preview.

Yeah.

I still haven't been able to see the video, because my computer hates me right now, but I liked hearing the audio one.

Nice work.
