Document Growth by The Vixen

October 17th, 2007 1:36 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document something growing.

So I admit it: I've been suffering from a two month long dry spell. And no, collaborations don't count as they don't take as much effort on my part (but they should...). What was the cause of this taskin' drought? The daunting job of living up to my "Last Day Ever" task. Seriously. And yet despite all the positive feedback I got for that completion, I still felt like I had to somehow "out do" myself and submit a task completion more epic than any of my others combined. Riiiight....

Anyways, I thought, "KristinawithaK, why don't you get over the loom and doom of doing 'a task' and just have fun?"

Hmmm....

P.S. I didn't physically manipulate any of the contestants.

The Great Competition is Finally Here!

Welcome to this years Grow Straw Grow contest, the race to enlarge and outgrow your opponents! For those of you new to this event, the layout and rules of the game are simple:

-All contestants line up (should be quite similar in length)
-One by one, each contestant is then injected with an unspecified liquid but don't worry! This serum has been tested and proved by our judges to be completely safe
-After each opponent has been injected and has finished growing, he/she will measured for length

Rules:

-No splashing or rolling around in another contestant's leftover liquid as it could cause excess growth
-When scrunched off the straw, don't cause any unnecessary resistance as it will give you an unfair advantage

This years contestants are an incredibly varied bunch! Hailing from superherodom to villainy, they are sure to give us a great match!
main_thestrawcrew28060.jpgOur first contestant is a rather lovable fellow. However, YellowBear, as he is so known isn't your average Teddy. He has been the champion of Grow Straw Grow for five years in a row and fans are anticipating yet another win. However, year after year, he has been targeted for criticism. Some speculate that the contest is rigged in his favor by YellowBear's cousin Pinky, the official measurer of the contest. But as many times as his ruler been checked, the two of them have yet to be found guilty of fraud.
main_ybnpinky28046.jpgOur next contestant if of very large proportions. Not in size, silly! But in heart! Grow Straw Grow proudly introduces this years most talked about newcomer, Bex the Hero! She is a strong as she is long and might just very well swoop this years championship off the ground!
main_bexstraw28048.jpgSpar, our next contestant, is a rather ambiguous character. Never really knowing exactly who is behind that moustache, his facade changes as frequently as his name. Has he competed in this competition before? No one can really be sure. But one thing is certain: this self-professed sleaze ball is always up for a good fight and a good fight is what we expect him to give!
main_sparstraw28056.jpgAnother newcomer to the scene has not taken the stage by storm but has sashayed her way in, hoping to floor the other players with her so-called "passion." And who is this wannabe diva? The Vixen of course! However, she has specifically requested not to be quoted on this but.. what the hell: "I'm going to beat those scrawny suckers down! Just watch, I'll get to the highest proportions of Vixenhood and then they'll be begging for mercy. Hey, who's that guy in the moustache......?"
main_vixenstraw28061.jpgOur veteran evil man appears on the scene, once again. Known for his sneaky tactics and thrilling display, The Villain has reappeared in hopes of winning the tournament once and for all. But will his villainous ways subside if he loses once again? Or will he grow to malevolent proportions and KILL US ALL??? We will soon find out.
main_villainstraw28059.jpgAs mentioned before, honored Sir Pinky will return this year as the competitions official measurer. This prestigious position is a hard one to fill: many a contestant has attempted to cheat during measurement but our Pinky stands strong and upholds the most honest of judgment.
main_pinkythemeasure28053.jpgAt the starting line, the contestants await to be shrunken. Pinky stands watch.
main_start28057.jpgAfter the contestants are scrunched off their straws (don't worry, it doesn't hurt...that much), they are evenly lined up and ready for the injection.
main_ready28054.jpgSpecial care is then taken to administer the serum by a huge hand from the sky. Each opponent receives three drops of this special liquid from a gargantuan dropper, suspended over their bodies.
main_firstdrop28062.jpgmain_seconddrop28063.jpgmain_thirddrop28064.jpgmain_fourthdrop28065.jpgOnce every contestant has grown, Pinky then steps forward and commences the measurement.
main_thefinalfive28058.jpg

Though she hasn't won in overall length, Bex the Hero proved to show the most effort by propelling herself upwards to the height of nearly an inch off the ground. Way to go, Hero!
main_measuringbex28051.jpg

Measuring in at just under four inches, YellowBear owns the first place position! Again.
main_measuringyb28052.jpg

Spar and The Vixen? Well, they seemed to get a little distracted. Don't know what happened there.
main_sparnv28055.jpg

And then there is The Villain. Poor, poor guy... He seems to have just curled up around himself in humiliation. But wait, maybe this is all part of his scheme....
main_curledvillain28049.jpg
Overall, it was a tournament well competed! Congratulations to YellowBear on his 6th championship year in a row and to Bex for her overall epic performance! Stay tuned for next years competition and find out if The Hero has what it takes to swipe the crown from our current champion. Thank you from all of us at Grow Straw Grow for your pleasant viewership!

Humiliation is an important element in the plotting of Doom.

That's right!! Six straight years and no signs of stopping!!

A really tough field this year, but I feel that I really hit my stride in the second drop. Some of the yonger competitors burst from the gate on the first drop but run out of gas before the finish. I knew that if I just kept my own pace I would pull it out once again.

Have a good year of training, see you all next year when I go for the 7-peat.

... I was going for style points. Freestyle growing, y'know? I'm lobbying to get an event added to next year's line-up.
Just you wait 'til I get my bigger cape, YellowBear!
