Luckily, he saw reason quickly and, in exchange for his freedom, agreed to carry a simple message to Julian Muffinbot.
When asked for a response to the fly's message, Julian Muffinbot's only response was non-verbal.
The messenger fly, gamboling about without a care in the world.

The box was just to provide visual contrast so we could spot when a fly landed. A grayish fly is hard to see when it's just on asphalt!
The chosen one
We trapped our messenger in a plastic baggie, as has been done since time immemorial.
Our messenger was strangely reticent with us.

Eventually, the messenger accepted its duty, and the message was placed upon its back.
Ready to fly!
When we asked if she'd gotten our fly-message, this was our recipient's only response. Clearly the message hit a nerve.

What did the note say?
I can't quite make it out.
This is really embarrassing, but we actually did this a while ago and no longer remember what it said. So until someone finds that fly, we may never know!
