This one wasn't quite so perfect, there was only part of her showing, and there were wires cutting through the picture, but I decided that I liked it that way. I've never really seen the cities in travel pics, I see cities which are grungy and urban and beautiful not in spite of their wires and graphitii, but because of it. The spirit of the city, soaring above wires which were just as much a part of it. I decided I might like that picture better. Because this picture was more emotional in place, (its one of my favorite places in school) I decided I should show you the context. This is me in my usual spot, in my usual position lol: I'm holding onto Little Dog, thats what my right hand is holding and what is under my head.

Little Dog used to be my boyfriends, he sent him to me along with a letter, one of his t-shirts, and some chocolate, when I was at acting camp the summer before last. Since he lives far away, its good to have a reminder of him to snuggle with sometimes, and I know its dorky to carry a stuffed animal everywhere, but hey, its not like I carry him in my arms, thats what backpacks and purses are for. lol. Its just good to always have a nice fluffy, snugglable reminder of my beloved. Anyways, portrait snapping done, I settled down to read, but my gaze kept returning to Sutro. My next class didn't have a view of her, she was blocked by buildings. I had a meeting with my college counselor on the other campus, and I know she would have had a glorious view of Sutro out her window, except that the fog had returned. An hour or so later, at fencing practice, I spotted a fairly decent view of Sutro through the trees, and took another picture. Its funny how cloudy skys are brighter than sunny ones on film. Its really hard to see Sutro in this picture with my monitor at certain angles, I hope you can see her.

By the time I spotted her from the library, I was completely in love with Sutro. Already, I turn to look for her often, and am disappointed when grey skys, buildings, trees, or hills block my view of her. I never really even thought about Sutro before I arrived here, and if it weren't for Bex's overwhelming love, I don't think I would have really paid that much attention, but she really is beautiful. Yay Sutro!!!
through the fence

better, but lets see if we can get her nice and centered. Still a nice picture of a magnificent lady though...
once again from the rooftop...

I tried to get the camera to focus through the fence, for some reason, there seemed to me somehting really interesting about sutro through the fence. but it wasn't really that good focus.
moi

in standerd reading in my seat in the library pose. (that white thing to my back (not by my head), its actually a window screen, but the window where I could see sutro was by my feet, with the screen up. no blocking her out.
Little Dog!!

his face may be flat (cause hes a good pillow) his fur may be mangy (cause hes a good hugger) his nose may be worn (cause he goes with me everywhere) but he's still second best to having my love around, and very cuddly and cute.
Sutro through the trees...

can you see her between the low right corner of the roof and that pipe/pole thing?

I'm voting for your inanimate friend. And I say carry your friend with pride.
I wonder how many people have been inspired to gaze at Sutro Tower because of Bex.
In case it comes in handy in the future, you might have been able to trick your camera into focusing on the tower by poking the lens through the fence to get an unobstructed view, holding down the shutter button in the half-way position, then stepping back from the fence and taking the shot without removing your finger from the button. (Doesn't work on all cameras, but will on many.)
Yay! I'm so glad I could inspire some new examination of the beauty around us!
