So, I discovered a spot on my campus a while ago that I thought "this is the ideal spot to do something silly aloud." It's over in the Science 2 building. The building itself is in this traingular shape, with a courtyard in the middle. The engineers randomly put an amphitheatre right in the middle of it. There's an X on the ground, and when you stand on the X, the shape of the building magnifies your voice so it sounds like you're using a microphone. It's trippy.
So, one night, when I really needed not to be in my building anymore, I rode my bike over to the amphitheatre and started practicing a scene I was performing in a drama class in a few days. The scene was the Comedies section from the Reduced Shakespeare Company's "Complete Works of Shakespeare: Abridged" and I was playing all three parts in a dramatic reading. I had to change my focal point for each character, and each character had a different voice. One even had a British accent.
Anyways, it was about 7 o'clock, so there were very few people just sitting around in the building, and the security guys were just starting their evening rounds of campus. As I was practicing, one of the security guys drives toward me in his little golf cart. I thought he was gonna ask me to stop being so loud and silly, talking about pairs of identical twins and putting down brains as collateral on loans. No, he just wanted to get through. So, I moved over to let him pass. Right as he drove his little golf by, I had one of those "OH SHIT" moments of clarity. I had left my cell phone in front of me to keep an eye on the time. He had just run over the cell phone.
Luckily, the phone wasn't damaged. It still survives to this day. I still see the security guy every once in a while, and I still wonder what he thought about my little Shakespearean performance. Obviously, it was bad enough to want to run over a small defenseless object...
