What This Place Needs... by The Revolutionary

November 5th, 2007 10:54 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Install in a public place (as permanently as possible) something that you think that place needs.

Beneath the paving stones - the beach!

Riding up the bike route that takes me to school, I look up at this bridge often and think, "What this place needs is a big yellow flag with a bicycle on it."

The flag was installed during CGØ's fourth climb Up and Up and... Up.

When I first saw your flag posted as a comment, I thought to myself, "Wow. That's great! I wish I could vote for that again."

Now that you've given me the opportunity to vote for it again, I can't help but thinking, "Wow, that's great. But, it doesn't seem true to the to the spirit of the task for which it is submitted. I can't vote for that."

I'm confused.

But, despite my confusion, the flag is awesome. Beautiful, epic tasking!

Bridges need flags, Loki. It's a universal truth. Every bridge in this country needs a flag.

But the more important improvement to this locale, which I should have elaborated on in more depth, is that the bridge is along one of the major commuter bike routes. My hope is that bicyclists using this bike route will be inspired to keep pedaling, no matter how windy or cold it gets, or how many times they run into the soft side of a car door.

That's about as true to the Trajectory of Desire as I could get.

But if you're saying that this task should be considered independently of other tasks, and that the choice to fly a flag from the top of a bridge is unfairly influenced by the directive in Up and Up to do so, I have to agree. Considering that, what this bridge really needs is a campfire party in the engine house...

Anyone up for camping out?

Hey Terpsichore, do those photos of Yosemite entice?

It'll be covered in snowy goodness come January...

What do we get if we get a flag on top of El Capitan? Does it count as a high score task?

What about Barbapoca? Can we put a flag on him?

I've put a flag on Barbapoca.

It's pretty fun. I recommend it.

Ohhh perfect...I can walk normally by January. Lets go skiing. If you did climb el cap you would have my vote. And if you can't climb if, there's a trail. It's tough but we can always get snow shoes...

I would love for anyone to put a flag on Barbapoca and then email it to me! That would make my day!

You've never put a flag upon me!

To let you all know, I'm tougher quarry than I seem.

Now that I know what's afoot - I nail this gold doubloon to the mast.

Whosoever of ye plants that flag, they shall have this gold ounce!

Yeah, me too. Is that a task-specific bug? Or can´t we vote for old tasks anymore?
