June 27: At the end of the Chicago Pride parade, one Mr. 0., one Meredithian, and one Gremlin sat in a Caribou coffee and chatted about the SF0 days of their past. During this meeting, a random idea for silliness was formed.
July 1: Sitting on the edge of the Chicago Summer Dance gathering, Gremlin mentions the idea to Dela Dejavoo. Dela points out an important fact – the SF0 era is ending at the end of July. More talk happens.
July 4: A brunch occurs at Bite café. Gremlin takes a poll of several attendants for interest. Ms Goblinpants, rehsamevoL Lovesmasher, Indy, and Muffinbot all express said interest.
July 10: Dela Dejavoo broaches idea with housemates, Jefftown™ and Amby D. They express interest.
July 11: Gremlin and Dela confer.

Hello friends!
Summer time is sitting directly upon us, and what better way to appreciate summer than with mischief and random acts of art? I don't think there are many better ways, honestly.
Now, there is one sure thing that we all have in common.
That is Foecakes.
We each once belonged to this mighty entity and reigned supreme over chaotic impulses, photo documentation, clever thinking, and the general inspiration blossoming ideals of SF0. Do you miss it? Do you ever look back fondly on those days?
My guess is that you, like me, became distracted with all the other lovely things in your life, vying for your attention. You might have even said to yourself "I'll get back to that at somepoint".
Well - NOW IS THAT POINT!
So we're putting out a call for a 2-week, Foecake reunion intensive! That's right!
SF0 is coming to the end of their current era. In the past, other players have vocally lamented the sad, sudden, and mysterious disappearance of the FCs. We think it would be HILARIOUS and awesome and fun to jump back into the game 2 weeks prior to the end of this run, focus on completing tasks daily in a balls-out manner, and attempt to gain status as the highest ranking team before this chapter has ended. (Proving that we are secretly super-heroes masquerading as human-style-creatures).
Once we've completed our mission, we can immediately dissolve back into the wood work, making all the other SF0 kids think "What just hit us?" and making us seem EVEN MORE MYSERTERIOUS (mwwaaaahhaahaa).
You may be thinking - "This is crazy talk! We can't possibly jump in and steal first place" - but you would be wrong. We totally can! We are currently ranked number 12 in the list of teams, a mere 4,115 points behind first place team San Fran (who the hell do they think they are?!!!). We are smart, crafty, innovative, and totally capable of overcoming them in two weeks.
If you want in on the fun, you will have two days to begin to gather up your idea's, you're old unfinished tasks, select things you'd like to do, compile all your important bits, find your camera etc. Then, on July 16 at 10pm (Chicago time) we HIT! (Or, post our first task).
From that point on, it's eat, breathe, task, and sleep (along with your other necessary life needs - but can't you incorporate those into a task?).
At the end of July 31, we can all relax with a sigh of relief and the knowledge of a game well played.
Are you in? If so, please RSVP to this email saying so! Doing so means that you will receive periodic emails from the Foecakes Cheerleaders. You can expect tasking tips, motivational speeches, guest appearances, progress reports, and the like! Oh yes!
If you've got friends that you've always wanted to get involved in SF0? Sign them up! Foecakes is willing to recruit! Then send me their email addy, and we'll put them on the list :) Similarly, if there are people (*cough* EVIL SUGAR *cough*) that I don't have on this email, please forward this message. Chances are I just don't have an email address for them, can't remember who's name goes with what picture, or simply spaced it.
And you know what's super awesome and amazing about team foecakes? It's that we can totally achieve this goal while simultaneously playing fair! Please remember not to vote for other FCs unless you truly feel they are worthy, as there's no honor in cheating. But do remember to check back often to see what others are doing - chances are very high that our tasks will warrant rewards. And if not, oh well. We still get points for just completing a task. And each point is a step closer to victory!!!
(Also, for those of you with crazy schedules and a general inability to commit to this level of insanity, we totally understand. However, we might nudge you into thinking about maybe submitting a single task or two as part of the team effort. Every point counts! Plus, we'd love to see what you might choose to do).
That about sums up our appeal. The battle against the loathsome, villainous CAKE monsters begins in two days. Are you with us???

July 15th: When the Call to Arms occurred, Team FOEcakes was in 12th place with 1823 points. Amby D took charge and completed the “Stripping” task that very same day, getting the ball rolling.
July 17: Team FOEcakes moves into 9th place.
July 19: Team FOEcakes moves into 7th place.
July 21: Team FOEcakes moves into 5th place – 2,000 points away from San Francisco Zero.
July 26: Team FOEcakes move into 2nd place – 300 points away from San Francisco Zero.
July 27 at 8:49am CST: Team FOEcakes crosses the threshold into 1st place! The team continues to turn in final tasking, in order build up enough of a lead to assure victory on July 31st.

July 28: Dela Dejavoo discovers, with much chagrin, that the end of the Everyday Life era was moved from July 31 to October 31.
July 31: Team FOEcakes is definitively in first place with a whopping 6961 points (as of 7/31 @ 11:15am CST), that is a gain of 5138 points in a little less than 17 days. WOOT!!

Things you didn't see:
Cat theatre, door cakes, several nameless art projects, foe-rave, global coffee, swimming in winter outfits (foiled by our unhealthy lake), as well as some partially completed tasks that were kept in reserve in case we needed extra completions for victory.
Things you did see:
Intentional and unintentional art, shenanigans, biking, subterfuge, costumes, tasking when we should be working, creation for the sake of creation, self-reflection, hours of writing, games, photography, editing, interactions with strangers, laughter, the exasperating heat and humidity that is a Chicago summer, and many, many, many play dates.
You also, possibly unknowingly, witnessed the essence of FOEcake spirit. It can be seen in the sheer fact that a team would rally together with exhaustive drive (Amby D would like to emphasize the word "exhaustive"!!) to fulfill a random 2 week goal created on a lark and a whim... and succeeded.

For me, "winning" had very little to do with the points (though meeting our crazy goal was fantastic), and everything to do with a 2 week surge of mind-blowing levels of creativity and collaboration. Being in the midst of a group of people who ate, slept, and dreamt SF0 for 15 days straight was an experience I will not soon forget. It was high energy brilliance and madness and magic. And surprisingly exhausting :).

Phew! The day of our goal has now arrived, and sleep is just around the corner (after attending the "Best Four Days of Gaming" next week, of course). I'm glad you enjoyed our crazy tasking! Personally, I am excited about a bit of a calmer tasking schedule, more like 1-2 per month rather than 1 per day (or so).
