Your monitor should put out light, and I don't know about you, but that hurt me to see. Sorry it had to happen to you!
What I found interesting about this image is how much it affected me. I've never suffered form any sort of motion sickness, epilepsy, nothing at all. But it actually hurts me to look at this for longer than a few seconds.

The second image kinda bothered me. It's like looking at the sun -- it doesn't hurt right away, but you just know you're fucking your eyes over.
