Leave Clues by The Animus

March 24th, 2008 11:05 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Leave clues.

Have some music*.

For starters, I want you to know that my idea was ninja'd. As such, I phale at originality points. However, this was a part of another task. I was stumped on a few points during the preparation of this task -- I didn't want anyone to skip clues, for one. I thought of a system where every clue would give a piece to a puzzle that could be solved once the person had every clue. That turned out to be fruitless -- my clue notes were incredibly discreet. Also, I hadn't been to my target library in years. My intial plan was to type out the calling card numbers and have a very professional look, but with so many options, I couldn't remember what classification system I had to use.
I assumed that the library had a working printer that I could use post-observation, so I set out with my camera, my laptop, some scissors, the special book, and my partner-in-tasking-and-everything-else.

When I get there and started jotting down wonderful titles, I overheard some lady asking another lady how to get the printers to work.
"Oh, the printers are down right now. I have a guy comin to fix em'."
Epic phale.
Luckily, I had paper with me, and produced a pen. Still, a lot of the professional quality I wanted went out the window at that moment.
Just incase some one's looking at this task to cheat, I'm going to withhold the last few titles, and update the praxis later.
The San Francisco Book -- I thought this was the only book that could start off the hunt.
In the Devil's Snare -- Sounded like a good book.
Infertility for Dummies -- Now... I understand needing a book on parenting, or even the whole conception process. But impotence is impotence....
Nuts in May -- The reciprocity of the last title.
.......
Morrigan's Cross -- Suggested by my partner. Forgot why.
Woodberry's Biography of Edgar Allen Poe -- It had good a good location in terms of the clue-finding.
Cheeseburgers -- A good title. On the clue to find this, I wrote "I can has internet meme?"
The Moose That Roared -- Odd title for a book. I wrote "as opposed to the moose that squeaked?" in my clue.
JUGS -- Some may say they're an obsession of mine, but hey, they make great pillows!

My final clue said "Look down. See anything out of place? Your prize is inside."
On the shelf below it was the very book I placed.
*Music was recorded with Microsoft Sound Recorder, hence the quality. I didn't want to take hours trying to perfect the song, so I promised only to do a single take once I figured out how to MP3-itize it.

Single take. Let's play count the errors! I count 3 major ones.

My partner-in-tasking-and-everything-else. Apparently camera shy.

The second clue. The first were strewn about the library, placed by my partner, so that it led to the San Francisco Book.

Hey, we could always use some new blood.

The final destination. There was once a dollar in there.

I wonder where this library is... are the photos the only clue we get?

Excellent guitar work. Home recordings are the best!

If I point you to the library, you could just..... Look at the neighboring books...... Maybe I should blur that image. Hm.

I read somewhere that two people were to add melodramatic music to their praxis, for effect. Though I don't think they've followed through, I figured I could. It's something to look forward to, I suppose.

From which data I concede that the online catalogue for Chicago's Public Libraries is either not up to date, or does not include Animus' local library. Drat.
