Regular Animal Documentation by Zip37

INSTRUCTIONS: Observe and document the lifestyle of an animal you see on a regular basis.

Well, I just have 2 parrots as pets (I live in México so the climate is very appropiated), so I've choosen this task, observing them I have divided this into 3 parts:

-Alimentation
-Relationships
-Habits

My parrots are Amazon parrots, they live in tropical climates and are almost omnivorous, they are very fun too, their names are "Pulguita" and "Poly" and they are a lovely pair, but I should explain those things in their proper sections so here starts my report:

Alimentation

My parrots like to eat many kinds of food, specially sunflower seeds, they eat many fruits like watermelons, apples, oranges, mangos, etc. Diverse vegetables and leafs are part of their diet too. If you have parrots as pets you must ve very careful as watching them not to eat nasty things, generally they tend to try to swallow plastics and metalic objects such as coins.

Relationships

"Pulguita" (the female parrot) and "Poly" (the male one) interact themselves very well, I think that they are in love since one can't leave alone the other. When interacting with other animals or humans "Poly" tends to be aggresive (just check the photo when attacking a hen), he attacks anything that means to hurt them or just approaching to them (including me sometimes).

"Pulguita" on the other side is the opposite of "Poly", she scares very easily and is very talkative, I estimate that she knows nearly 14 words and improvises other 6 words with her vocabulary, "Poly" tends to protect her from almost anything (including an RC car).

Habits

The parrots are very fun birds, they can memorize about 20 words and have a long life, they have regular habits like bathing in rainy days or when plenty of water is present, they like to ve very close to people but to be aggresive if someone tries to touch them os simply approach them.

A particular thing that I've noticed on them is that they also have a "language" based on squeaks and very loud sounds, I have noticed that in their language they have basic words like "Warning", "No", "Yes", "Food" and "Help". They also like to create some words based on their own vocabularies.

Well I think that's all I've observed, I want your opinions about what do you think about this.

Wow, I love that they improvise words from the vocabulary they already know. And that they're in Love! The picture of them sharing food is priceless.
