INSTRUCTIONS: Make a series of short comic strips and post them, at regular intervals, in a public place for all to see.

While pondering this task, I first came up with the public place where I wanted to post the comic strips. I knew I wanted to put them on a boarded up wall behind a street corner that I pass at least once per day. In fact I have often taken the bus from this location, when I'm not on my bike.

Once I decided “where” the comics would go, I began the arduous process of deciding “what” they would be. Ack! My drawing skills are... ahem!... disastrous and I'm a total noob when it comes to writing any sort of comics. So I went with what I knew... that bus stop. I sketched up three sheets of three panels of things that happen at that corner.

Exciting, right?!?! but the last of the series is a little bit different, since I positioned myself across the street as the one non-bus panel in the final strip reveals. My hope is to put them up (in precise intervals, of course) and have some random person read them during the hour that I am about to be sitting in the spot that I drew.

I wonder if anyone will recognize the drawings? Actually, I wonder if anyone will even look at them... or not tear them down right away... well, I guess we're about to find out!

I stayed for one hour across the street and watched for people as I chatted with sf0 player “Togashi Ni” over some margaritas. The first person who looked at them, was the only one I didn't get a picture of, as I was all flustered that he was looking at them. He pointedly looked over where I was sitting after looking at them (as well as one other viewer)! Alas. After that, I counted about six more people check em out, though with the hot sun and adult beverages, I may have missed one or two. A few people even took photos of my comics, which was SO flattering!

The hardest part of the whole task was leaving my little drawings behind as the night falls over Chicago. I just have a feeling that they won't last there for very long, but it was a good exercise in letting go of something I created... even if it was just cheesy stick figures, I loved those stick figures! BYE GUYS!!!

(I don't know what the heck is wrong with the pic, can't get it to straighten to save my life, heh... but here is the infamous bus sign.)

I went by there just tonight, and my drawings were still there! Totally untouched... awesome.
