The trip started relatively early on March 3rd when Mooflyfoof and I hopped into my trusty car, picked up a 3rd passenger and headed towards Washington, CA. We met up with avidd and several other friends who had spent Friday night in the wilderness without us. The word was that we missed a lot of cold and body warmth sharing.
We were camping in a valley just next to a national park, in a somewhat grey area regarding whether it was private property owned by one camper's family or actual government land. There was actual snow on the ground, a rare sight for me this winter.
We spent most of the weekend planting trees in an attempt to offset the carbon output that we would be contributing to in August. Trudging through hills and rocky slopes, looking for suitable spots where a shovel would not clang against rocks and where a young sapling would have a chance to survive and thrive. Over Saturday and Sunday, 2000 trees were planted by the group.
Saturday night was spent around a campfire, making s'mores, discussing the state of our society, and various other topics of conversation while the "real" Orion watched over us.

-- 5ft stalagmites of poo are possible (better judgment dictated that a photo not be taken)
-- Yes, there is poison oak at that altitude, and yes, rabbit is allergic to it.

-- A GPS is a handy thing to find where you left your water bottle.
