Ariadne Unemployed by Bastard, Lincøln
October 12th, 2008 11:00 PMI know this is no shplank, but it's not intended to be. This is intended to be fun and to introduce a new player to the game by having a little fun.
While I was in Austin visiting my friend (Bastard, who is pretty much my best friend ever and we grew up together and spent many nights one bunk away from each other while growing up)) I decided that some tasking would be nice. And since he didn't yet play the game and I thought he'd maybe be really good at it, I decided this would be a nice easy fun introduction to the game.
So while I think just going to a labyrinth would be considered playing, I decided to bring a game along and once we got to the center of the labyrinth we would play the game. I chose Rack-0 because it's easy and fun.
So I looked on ye olde google maps and discovered a few labyrinths in Austin. So off we went.
The first labyrinth we went to was my favorite one, it was made from different colored bricks. It was beautiful and was on the grounds of a children's hospital where the old airport was.

I enjoyed it very much. When we got to the center we played Rack-0.

We played what turned out to be a best of five series, and Lincoln won three straight.

Then we went off to a second labyrinth and this one was far more on the side of suck than the first because the ground was all weeds and the crappy kind of weed that makes those awful burrs that stick into everything. When we got to the center of this labyrinth (which was behind a church), we played Rack-0 again, and this time Bastard won three straight games (Lincoln blames this on his godless heathen ways and the location on church grounds).

Then we went off to a third labyrinth on another church property and we decided not to play Rack-0 because we liked the idea that we were equal. But we sat in the middle and talked for awhile and played a little tag while in the labyrinth's confines.

So we played in a labyrinth while Ariadne took her day off.
And Bastard has completed his first task. Say hi. Make him your friend. Send him a message, he's pretty great.

Aw man Rack-0 is a great game where you just need to get ten cards to go from lowest to highest. Simple yet really fun. In the second game I was going run long runs which may have been detrimental to my success (or it could have been the hallowed ground).
Not everything can be, on a scale from one to ten, where one is not very extreme, and ten is extremely extreme, a nine-point-five. The music of walking barefoot in a winding path for the fun of it, and not just walking for the sake of the destination, is great. Not that Rack-O isn't something we should look forward to in life.
Spreading SF0 is always a good thing.
I was so happy to log onto SFØ today and find this.
I love Racko! I used to play it all the time with my cousins at my grandparents' house, so it reminds me of summer holidays...
obviously.
not a shplank? maybe not, but i rather like it.
p.s. what the hell is Rack-O?
