Fact # 1: One of the best ways to have an adventure is to set out in pursuit of something with no clear idea how to get there.
Fact #2: Bex and Kyle Crocodile have a crush on Sutro Tower.
Fact #3: We have, until now, sheepishly stood by, only admiring its sleek figure from afar, never having the courage or confidence to approach her with our feelings. (See http://sf0.org/bex/Object-Annotation/ )
What do you get when you put these together with a dash of SF0 and hit blend? A mission to find Sutro and ask her out.
Heading out from SCRAP, with Bex Drive in the driver's seat, we hit Cesar Chavez with no map. Kyle Crocodile manned the camera, documenting our chaotic and unpredetermined approach. With only Sutro's sexy frame as a guide tantalising us in the distance, every intersection required fast and spontaneous decision-making.
"Left ho!" Shouts the Croc just before he is slammed into the passenger seat door by the speed of Ms. Drive's turn.
"I think I see her! I'm gonna slow down; you hang out the window and get her, quick before these people behind me start honking again!"
Our desire ignited as gradually her figure grew larger in our viewfinder. We stopped at scenic lookouts and neighborhood cul-de-sacs, dead ends and one-way streets, frantic in our yearning merely to be within licking distance of her cruel gates. We spent a winding eternity getting maddeningly close only to have the road tear us away again from the object of our frenzied affection.
At last, when we were about to give up, having charged up hill only to be beaten down yet again by the tangle of twin peaks paths, we found ourselves suddenly coasting in by her side.
We got a about a million pictures, but I have chosen mostly just the ones showing Sutro's enlarging visage.
