(Or any alkali metal, really. But where does one find such things in their pure forms? I don't think I have any chemist friends.)
It is a bit disturbing. They have all these shots of people floating in it (ew), these otherworldly trees growing in it, people standing around it... and only one shot of Fishdeath. The article is here, although I don't believe they have all the pictures from the magazine up. I mean, the article's spot-on (I can't picture NG settling for anything less, c'mon), but the pictures... eh.
So... I've been slightly obsessed (off-and-on) with the Salton Sea since reading an article about it in National Geographic a few years ago. And having been there (what can I say, I forced a road trip), I can say that while their pictures are prettier, yours are much, much more accurate.
Wait a sec, did you just one-up National Geographic? On accuracy? I THINK SO.

Very cool. I am impressed with both your biking and drawing prowess.
(That's better than I draw 98% of the time when I'm sitting still. The other 2% is chance and miracles.)
That's also better than I bike 98% of the time. I'm a balance-failure.
The Panglossian Ocean makes me a little bit gleeful. Oh, Pangloss and his ridiculously optimistic ways. *shakes head*
Points for Pangloss. Also, Some Mountains or Whatever over on Apathy. :)
Not sure because it isn't very green, but your 'tomato looking thing' might be a tomatillo.
Where were these trees?
Really nice! I used to put pennies on railroad tracks and pick blackberries near the tracks (not in SF, thankfully, Caltrains are scary and MUNI trains are scarier!), so it makes me very happy whenever I hear of people flattening coins. I love that they're warm if you pick them up right after from all that friction! So you get ExtraAwesomePoints for making me feel a wee bit nostalgic. :)
1. I live in the Richmond District as well. Convenient.
2. I would *love* to learn some belly dancing!
3. I'm terrible at thinking of things about myself, but here are a few skills that might be fun to learn/teach: Rubik's cube-solving, photoediting (in Photoshop), some basic Java programming (pretty much, how to make pretty but useless things XD), Wikipedia game strategies... mixtape (or mixCD, whatever) making strategies (WHICH DEFINITELY DO EXITST!)... um. Yes. :)
Definitely inspired, but I wasn't grossed out at any point along the way except for the 'preventative shot of Pepto-Bismol," which sounds optional anyway. Votes, though, because it sounds DELICIOUS! (and like it would trigger a heart attack... mmmm, heart disease...)

I like the song in the video! What is it?
