Everyday Life by A Message to the Past

September 22nd, 2008 4:11 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Don't go to work. Don't go to school.

Extract taken from Journal No. 1, Chapter 1.

September 15th, 2035

Good morning Diary - my name is Scott, and life has become anything but everyday. Ever since the Event a couple of years ago (I cannot remember how long, it is funny how these things pass you by), I have been completing this task every day. No work, no school, no government... just surviving and trying to work out what's happened. As you can guess by the fact I am still writing with pencils and not giving any photographs, it is not getting very far. Most of the power has been long gone, so I guess we will keep on wandering until we hit civilisation.

Go on then, I might as well tell you about my day as that is why you're here, o Diary. Got up, packed down the camp, went to the supermarket for breakfast. Most of the tins are getting past their sell-by now, so I am slowly starting to work my way through the crops I pass on the roads. It is amazing how much the wild plantlife has grown ever since things have changed, I have never seen so many apple trees! It is almost beautiful, until you remember why it is here...

Me and Imo have been walking and talking for days now without rest, but ever since we recieved that signal from London we've been marching full on to get there as soon as we can. Another life, o Diary! Another human! Can't wait to meet them - but I'm hoping they are a nice sort of person, especially if I am to know them well... Never mind, I am sure they will be sympathetic to a pair of lost travellers on their roads!

I have finally got Imo to think about SF0, as a note. I know it is outdated, and especially unnecessary in these times of hardship, but God knows we have to find something to interest us when every day is the same. It has been helped massively by dad's Book I remembered to take from home when I left - it's got nearly every task from the first twelve eras written down, plus notes about possible completions. The Book was dad's dream, and Heaven help me I have been dragged into the game a treat! Therefore, I am going to try and complete as many tasks as I can, travel allowing naturally. Let this be the first, the inaugural task for an inaugural era! Obviously no-one's going to vote for them, me being the only player, but it will keep me going...

Tell you what, o Diary - should anyone find this, and Godspeed should the world be restoréd, I would very much like my exploits to be read. So if anyone's reading this, and in a position to affect the distirbution, please find the well-known website sf0.org and post this as a completion of Everyday Life - I know it was a task!
