I love this task! So much room for originality!
SWINGING Jan 12th 2009 - Feb 28th 2009
plank

Making a swing was relatively easy. I got a board and cut it to 27 inches in length and got a little help from the resident power tools expert to drill big holes in it.
red plank

I painted it red so it would be visually pleasing and withstand weather. Everyone likes red swings!
settings

When I set out to put the swing up the thermometter at the bank said -5, it felt much colder. I went to Home Depot to get rope. I was dressed in my usual black and everyone looked at me like I was going to hang myself with it. It was very awkward.
placement

So, I had my rope and swing and now I needed to find a good place for it. the lake park was my favorite idea. I chose this place because it isn't much fun anymore. When I was little there was an arch to climb on and a slide and it was cleaner and a nice park, but now it's mostly abandoned. This park really needed something nice.

All that was left of this place were dirty beaches, a few rickety spring wobble toys and a tiny backho.
swing

I put the swing in the pavillion looking out over the lake. After I did I sat and thought for a while, it's very peaceful.
swinging

a woman enjoying the veiw of the lake. She also remembers when her kids were little and the part was beautiful and fun.
approval!

Mary Clare happened by so I dragged her over for a test run. She APPROVES. May my red swing hang strong forever!

the writeup was so short the musical accompaniment didn't last! I was hoping for epic epicness or some kind of novella. . .
yeah, unfortunatly it was pretty straight forward. no novella this time
I feel like The Final Countdown is a satisfying non-sequitor to installing a swing in a Wasilla landmark. This is a town that deserves to be appreciated for more than one person, and Rin is making that possible, one idiosyncrasy at a time.
Great job! And the odd looks at Home Depot's rope section, wow :)
Ok, That's a nicely crafted swing. Mine tend to be more branches. I really thought that the final countdown might have been you putting "Swing" somewhere it was needed, rather than being an odd (but fun) aside, but you shall get votes anyway...
I was going to vote anyway, but you get a full five for providing the image of a headbanging cellist. Wow.
Yeah boi! This be pimpin'.
Looks like a solid and cheerful swing. Very cool.
I drove by there and your swing is still there.....
A lovely swing in an alluring area... and head banging cellist.
you be rad, my lady. twas a great swing indeed...!
