The proof is in the pictures.
I built the boxes at a cafe table at a bookstore near my house while helping a friend with her college essays. The servers seemed a little concerned at the ridiculous amount of construction paper spread across the table, but they didn't say anything.
It turned out to be kind of difficult to find places to put them when I got to the park. There were so many people and I felt that if I just plunked one down next to someone they might be a little concerned.
There are very few pictures of the box distribution. The lake is next to a playground full of little kids and whipping out a camera would have invariably involved (and once did, so it's not posted) an accidental picture of one of the kids. That would be awkward.
I don't know whether or not anyone will pick them up. I hope they do. I hope it makes them smile.
These are definitely not permanent, but that's what I like about them. I just hope it doesn't rain.

box 3.

"even castles in the sky can do with a fresh coat of paint. make the necessary changes." (haruki murakami)
box 4 in place.

on a picnic table by the lake. i saw people walk by as soon as i placed it, and could only get a picture from far away.
box 1 in place.

on a bench by the other lake. a man sat down next to it almost immediately after i put it down, so he probably saw. i walked away and didn't see whether or not he had opened it.
