Add a Useful Rope by sami

April 13th, 2009 8:42 PM / Location: 32.875298,-117.2397

INSTRUCTIONS: I often find on my adventures that someone has installed a useful rope. It helps me to get somewhere I want to go, like up a tree, or down a steep muddy slope.

Please, install a useful rope.

i'll be sure to keep everyone updated on whether or not my fellow UCSD denizens agree on the utility of this rope!

I hope that is not a useful rope!

But nicely documented, and clever idea. I look forward to seeing more from you!

You look so much exactly like me two years ago that it's scary. You even wear your hair the same.

Amazing my dear friend! Give me a time when we can collab on tasking!

A creative take on the task.

And yet, as symbols go, a noose hanging in public is one with a particularly long and brutal history. We, praxis readers, know what you meant by it. But, were I walking past, the thought "that would be useful for a prospective suicide" would probably not be the first thing to come to mind.

Here's hoping that it's not misunderstood.

Thats supremely excellent. I wish i had thought of that, we need one outside of the Latin classrooms here.

thank you for your concern, Loki! i know my proof was written with humor in mind, but i did my best to frame the rope as an art piece. i think its location (an area of UCSD covered in artful graffiti, where many art/music classes are held) and the piece of duct tape does the trick. it's very easy to walk to where it's tied up and see the message i put next to it. i was also worried when i thought up the task.

and Rin.. i want to see a picture of you :)

Cool. More tasking from the Southern Kingdoms.

The noose coupled with the disclaimer, it stings a little, but I kinda like it.

I like this.

It's a shame that ugly architecture doesn't have a neck.

Oh goodness.. this task... I'm sure many of you have heard of the racism fiasco at UCSD... and how someone hung a noose in the library. Why didn't the chancellor send off a bunch of emails about MY noose? (Well, probably because the location is more artsy there... ) At any rate, I don't think I'll ever be hanging a noose again now that I actually understand the historical and social implications ... and the mess it causes for PR. My campus is so ignorant and over-reactive, makes me want to hang myself...
