Photo Competition Number 1 by Heatherlynn, Jellybean of Thark
January 7th, 2008 10:30 PMIs Photo Competition. Number One for good of happy. Yes.
We decided, rather than just do one set, to make this a real competition. Three rounds, let the people decide a winner.
Heaven or Hell? Let's rock!
Test of timekeeping equipment -- good!

(Synchronize Swatches!)
Round one begins here at LA Zoo.
We arrive.

This map shows the basic area.

Heather, show us the start time.

I will say that Heatherlynn gave a strong showing with this task, I especially liked her "backs of two people at zoo" and "Superior Poultry" as well as the "bird feet" and "love carved into cactus" but I think I'm going to have to declare C.M. as the winner. With his "More than an eyeful" and "Sincere Imports" various intersections and "Zoo POP" "Vampire Teeth" "Stairs" "Panda" "Convenience Portrait" and his "B&W Stairs" takes the prize.
Good show both of you!
It was close till the last set, but the light, the black and white stairs, and the intersection all pulled C.M. into the lead. Some wonderful pictures by both of you though!
No way! Heather's my fave. Four of my favourite five are Heather's. Perhaps C.M. has a better eye for composition, but Heather's way of (repeatedly) capturing a secret moment wins out for me.
Mind you, about 90% of the photos are better than anything I could take. Excellent.
P.S. "There you have it America?" Hmm... tempts me to un-vote...
I particularly liked the leaf with text, the squid box, and the black and white chain link fence framing the buildings. So laurels to Heather.
Un-vote?
C.M. Gonzalez: Alienating people since 1978!
Nice compositions, both of you, but I especially love Sr. Gonzalez's...
An eye for framing. Yes...
Those are part of the Benjamin Franklin statue. He's sitting on a bench feeding some pigeons. I guess someone stole one of them.
The birds feet look like the metal had been hacked. He also had had one on his arm, but the place where the feet had been had been pried up. There was nothing left of the bird but a rough spot on his arm and a slightly less oxidized area of metal.
I really like all of CM's text shots, but Heather's on the leaf from the zoo just takes the cake.
That and the vampire teeth have to be my favourites.
Wow, it's tough to decide! Heather took the first round, but I think I have to give Chinatown and Glendale to C.M., ftw.
My lack of portrait for Chinatown still feels poopie though.
Photopalooza!
