The Goddess declares:

One fine day, I logged on to SF0 and came across an event that was far too amazing to be ignored. The Superb Owl party. This was way to win to pass up.

So on the 6th, I held a Superb Owl. There were 8 in attendance, including myself. The attendees were:

Mike Murdoch
The Footsoldier of Shadows
Anna (Mike's mate)
Luna (Footsoldiers's mate)
Hayley Lind VanDeBogart
Jon Coyne
Adam Bordelon
And of course, me.

The activities for the day:
Owl Calls
Watch Guardians of Ga'hool
Make owl masks
Watch Dir En Grey parody video
Watch documentary
Practice silent swoops

First we decided to watch Guardians. Hayley was still at work and I really needed a nap. So I decided that Guardians was the least awesome activity anyway so it would be ok to entertain everyone else for a couple hours. After the movie, Hayley arrived and we got started on our owl masks. I personally made mine after a barn owl, as they are total badasses and sound like screeching death. While making the masks, we tried to get the documentary going but there was a technology malfunction, much to our disappointment.

After the masks were made, we went to a website that had owl calls on it and practiced most of the owls listed. At least 6 different owl calls were practiced. We also watched the Dir En Grey parody, which for the chorus, sounds like they are screaming

FUCK IT'S AN OWL

over and over again. Very awesome.

We also took a moment to eat, so we turned on an odd random movie we had called "Exam" while we ate sandwiches, chips, and the owl cake I made. The cake was actually a bit challenging, as I had to shape and etch each of the feathers for the wings. But it was really fun.

After we finished the movie, it was starting to get late (almost midnight) so we headed down to the nearby park to practice our silent swooping. Of course, we live in Alaska, so it was really cold and very very slick. But we managed. I forgot to bring a stuffed animal to practice on so we used a glove instead.

After the swooping was finished, I awarded the Superb Owl Award. This award was for the most superb owl attendee. The Footsoldier of Shadows won.

Here is my list of results:

Footsoldier: did a really good barn owl call, made a mask, and had a very silent swoop and landed right on target and had arms like wings.
Luna: did a fairly good owl call, had a cool mask, but was lacking in swoop skills.
Anna: WATCHED THE SUPERBOWL BEFORE ARRIVING. Auto disqualify. But did make a mask and tried some calls. limited swoop skills
Mike: WATCHED THE SUPERBOWL BEFORE ARRIVING. Auto disqualify. He also ended up leaving during mask construction and owl calls. Had an alright swoop.
Adam: Alright calls, didn't make a mask though due to trying to fix the technology failure. His swoop failed though because instead of grabbing with his talons, he rolled. Owls don't roll.
Hayley: mediocre calls, made a nice mask, swooping skills were limited.
Jon: I honestly don't remember his call skills, only barely tried on his mask, and didn't swoop. He did bring soda though.

I also gave a runner-up award to Luna for trying hard. She had lots of spirit, just lacked the skills to be a true owl.

In the end, I found that Footsoldier must be an animorph. He was far too skilled to not be. He was very proud of his new owl friend.

The party was quite fun.

sorry about the unsubmit. Had to finish editing it. One of the other people on the task had submitted it before I could finish. And I didn't want it sitting here unfinished.
