I made a little booklet of messages on a large post-it pad and tucked it into my passport (photo identification). My ideas for the messages started with the second one - my husband is a recent immigrant from England and thanks to him I am more aware than ever of how closely the world is watching to see what we do in this election.

My polling place mostly had people voting at tables! I didn't feel hidden enough! I waited for a podium thingie to open up, and went there to fill out my ballot. But the line of people waiting to turn in their ballots went right past my podium! Were people looking over my shoulder? Visions of voter fraud accusations spun through my head.

I moved to another podium that was a little more out of the way, and left my messages after taking pics with my cell phone (having cleverly remembered to turn off the shutter-clicking noise).

I took a photograph of the podium in which I placed my booklet of messages, but my phone ate it, I think. In Minnesota, this completion is also a completion of Documentary Defiance, but I won't submit it there.

Heart racing = votes from me.

Isn't it weird how SF0 can make you do things that, while perfectly innocent, you are completely convinced that other people will perceive as a crime?
