If you give a pig a pancake by Dr. Awkward, Young Cain
February 20th, 2010 9:39 PM
When I first saw this task, i KNEW i HAD to do it! But that didn't mean I knew what I was going to do.
I spent a long time trying to figure out what to do. Finally, my sister thought of making a restaurant.
So I began working on PIHOP and ideas started to layer. Eventually i created a story.
Preparation
I needed play-dough, pistachio shells, beans, various other objects, and time.
Pistachio shells took the place for ears and beans made up for eyes.
Then I needed a box, crayons, Twizzlers, magazines, and hot glue-gun.
crayons took place for tables. Twizzlers were the door, windows, seats, and stand. Magazines became floor...
The Story
Tiger, Nelly, and Yum Yum's Diner
Tiger was the construction worker, he cut down the trees to make the resturaunt, and when he built it, Nelly shouted instructions from below. He rolled his eyes a lot, but Nelly had gone to architectural school, so he did what she said. She and Yum Yum hoisted the ovens, the tables, and the chairs into the house. The three pigs examined their handiwork, and checked it over, making sure that there was no way for intuders to break in, (a wolf namely, by the name of Conrad, who they had been told hunted down pigs and ate them) when satisfied they switched their sign to "open". This house was not a house of straw or of sticks or even of bricks, but a house of pancakes.
"Nelly, haven't you ever made pancakes before?" YumYum sighed, scraping off Nelly's burnt attempts at a blueberry pancake into the sink. Nelly looked down and scuffed her shoes, pouting.
"Naw, you and Tiger always hogged the stove anyway when we were piglets and I was never really a cook to begin with." YumYum rolled his eyes and patted her on the back.
"Go tend to the customers," He said, handing her an apron. She pulled it on, muttering. Tiger was on the other side of the room, laughing with a tableful of rowdy backpackers. An elderly couple with tiny glasses on their delicate snouts were staring out the window, not so much perplexed as they were worried.
"Hey, I'm Nelly, can I take your order?" she flashed her notepad out. The sow stared at her,
"You...don't allow wolves in here, do you?" she asked.
"Well, we've never had one in here." She joked.
"No, I mean, this wolf on the outside keeps staring at us through the window."
Nelly peeked out to hungry looking wolf in ripped overalls sitting on a stump at the edge of a clearing. Nelly started, and glanced over at Tiger.
"I'll try to to see what I can do." Nelly replied, "Now what would you like to order?"
"I don't know if I can eat here!" The sow said, squirming a bit, "Do you think you can get him to leave? He's making me very uncomefortable."
"Anything while you wait?" Nelly sighed. The other pig nodded,
"I'll get some blueberry pancakes. And... do you sell root beer floats?"
The sow looked disgusted, but Nelly turned on her heel before she could stop her.
"Tiger, we need to take care of something." She said, poking him. He turned, his face covered with blueberry pancake remains, hands greasy with butter. Nelly grimaced.
"Jeezus Tiger, that was for the customers! Wipe your mouth and come outside with me" He looked at the floor guiltily and grabbed a napkin.
"They just smell so good! I mean, can't you smell it? It makes me hungry." Tiger asked. Nelly stopped. She was so used to the smell that she didn't even notice how sweet and warm the pancake house was; she could smell the fresh blueberries and strawberries sizzling in the sweet dough. She was tempted to steal some pancakes from the customers herself, but she restrained herself. She pulled Tiger by the arm to the side so the customers wouldn't hear her,
"There's a wolf outside." Tiger looked out the window. Sure enough, the wolf was sitting there gloomily, staring at the pancake house. He shuddered.
"What do you want me to do?" Tiger asked,
"I don't know, get rid of him!" She replied fiercely. Tiger rolled his eyes,
"Hey, maybe I'm the strongest, but I'm still a pig, you know. Wolves eat pigs. Come out with me. It's safer that way. We'll ask him what he wants."
Nelly looked at the wolf. He looked very hungry, but she knew she wouldn't have let Tiger go by himself anyway no matter how hungry the wolf looked. She brushed some flour off of her apron and peeked out the door to see where the wolf was looking. Tiger peeked out the other side, and they looked at each other.
"one." Tiger breathed,
"Two."
"three."
They stepped out together, and began strolling down the lawn. The wolf didn't seem to notice them until they were just a few feet away.
"S-sir, we're going to--" Tiger stammered.
"Eh?" The Wolf rolled one lolling eye towards them.
"We're going to have to ask you to leave. There's no loitering, you see, and--"
"This is a free forest and I can sit where I feel." The wolf replied indignantly, "Besides, I'm starving."
He licked his lips. Nelly shivered a little and stepped behind Tiger. Tiger was a good head shorter than the wolf, but maybe twice his weight with his muscle. The wolf was very thin.
"Very, very hungry." he looked over to Tiger. Tiger crouched, prepared to spring if the Wolf was hungry enough tomake a leap at him.
"WAIIIIIITTTTTT!" Came a shriek from behind them. They all turned. YumYum was running top speed across the field with a silver platter in hand. Tiger and Nelly were utterly baffled.
YumYum stopped before them, panting.
"Mr Wolf, if you're hungry, then I have something for you." He lifted the top. Under a swirling mist of steam was plate of freshly made chocolate chip pancakes. The wolf leapt up and grabbed it.
"Wait, so he didn't want to eat us?" Tiger asked YumYum.
"No!" The Wolf said, pulling a fork and a knife from his pocket, "No, I just didn't think you'd let me in. The pancakes smelled so amazing that I just didn't want to leave. Thank you so much for the pancakes by the way." He grinned toothily at YumYum.
"Glad to do a service."
The wolf flicked a coin in his direction, and continued to eat. YumYum skipped off back to the kitchen, whistling. Nelly and Tiger stared at him as he went.
"How did he know that--?"
"He's a chef, Nelly."
Happy thanksgiving :P

I love finding gems like this, three years deep. It makes the effort so worth it.
So very well done! :) I love it.
