Saucy Tales by Libris Craft

INSTRUCTIONS: Every ancient condiment in the back of your fridge is a tale of neglect and abandonment. Tell us yours.

The plan: clean out the refrigerator after the departure of three roommates (two just for the summer, one for good).

The revised plan: arrest the expired and fugitive contents to clean up this town.

We decided to do this task as part of our wild tasking weekend. We, you ask? Well, BVT Major Misanthropology and I had decided to work together on this task, but only when we started to write our praxis, did I realize that it was a one player task. So, we divided it according to our efforts. I'm posting how we did the task, and Misanthrpology shall post the epic tale of crime fighting.

First things first, we needed to assemble the necessary equipment for booking our suspects. Sir J would be handling the arrests (aka, cleaning the fridge).

I used a piece of matting to make a height chart, so we could take mug shots of each suspect.

I needed the height chart to sand upright, so I used a book shelf thing I had laying around, and taped it so it would stay upright.

Then, I decided to make a booking number placard, with interchangeable numbers, as we thought we might need to book quite a few suspects. I cut squares of card stock, and labeled (with the trusty label maker) each with a digit. I used Velcro circles to make the numbers interchangeable.

In the meantime, Misanthropology was working on the booking paperwork. After some fiddling, we got the paper work to print out, and were ready to start.

Here's a completed example of the booking paperwork.

Date of birth: If the container had the date of manufacture on it, we included it.
Race: since we were thinking about making the story noir based, a bit of racial profiling was fine.
Identifying features: We extrapolated the markings on the container to come up with features. For example, a dent in the bottle became a limp.
Outstanding warrants: this was the expiration date, if it was present and had expired. We made up crimes to fit the items.

We needed a desk, for the booking paperwork. So, I rounded up a plank of wood, and we started booking our suspects.

Each suspect had a front and a profile shot taken, with a unique and (somewhat) randomly generated booking number.

I took pictures, and interrogated the suspects, while Misanthropology filled out the paper work.

Touching the objects we had decided to remove from the fridge was... exciting. Especially as we started to look that the expiration dates on some of the items. At one point, we discovered the spicy mayonnaise had expired in 2007, and was actually leaking on me.

After a through round of hand-washing, we finished with our booking. Misanathropology and I had brainstormed as we went along, so she ran off to work on the story, while I concentrated on writing the explanation, and getting the photos ready to upload.

I couldn't resist taking a photograph of my notebook being booked.

Wait until Misanthropolgy gets her half up. This was seriously fun, and the story is awesome(yes, I peaked).
