Digital -> Analogue by Libris Craft

August 20th, 2012 5:13 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create an analogue version of something digital.

You may take inspiration from this performance.

I needed a task that I didn't need to write an epic story for, as I'm currently stalled out on writing epic praxis for a few tasks.

So, I'll be brief.

1. Inspiration: Reloading my SF0 page. Hm. Little icon turns green and goes around in a circle. (I'm using firefox)
2. I could make a flip book of the icon turning.
3. Look up animation frame rates. Slowest: 15 frames per second.
4. It takes less than a second for it to turn.
5. 15 frames it is!
6. Pull out the index cards.
7. Make a compass out of a pushpin, twist tie, and pencil.
8. Trace 15 circles.
9. Wish I had my real compass.
10. Watch animation again.
11. Starts and ends with SF0 icon. Middle bit is just the green dot.
12. Need 4 frames with logo. Other 11 will be the green dot.
13. Draw first logo. remember why I don't draw much.
14. Keep going anyway.
15. Decide to number cards to save myself agony later.
16. Get slightly better at logo.
17. Start blocking out how the dot refreshes.
18. Thankful that I thought to number my cards already.
19. Start Coloring.
20. Finished the red on all the logos. Take break to work on, well, work.
21. Get home. Start coloring, while Sir J makes pizza for dinner.
22. Enjoy coloring a lot more than I thought I would.
23. Finish coloring, and assemble booklet.
24. Realize that I did the tail of the dot going in the wrong direction.
25. Reorder my index cards so that it goes in the right direction.
26. Clip it together, and try it out.
27. I MADE A MOTHERFUCKING FLIPBOOK THAT WORKS!
28. Make a video of it.
29. Offer to let Sir J try the flip book. His reply: "Only if you want olive oil on your flip book."
30. He may not touch the flipbook.
