INSTRUCTIONS: Monitor police communications in any manner of your choosing.

I used an old police scanner that my Mom bought off of a client for $40.
I documented 2 hours of police and ambulance calls.

5:32 - Female coughing up blood, cystic fibrosis patient, ambulance needed

5:36 - Residential automatic fire alarm activated

5:37 - Broke down car blocking road, tow needed

5:38 - MVA report, 2 vehicle accident, 2 deputies needed, EMS checking for injuries

5:39 - Vehicle crashed into tree, no injuries

5:40 - Natural gas smell reported

5:41 - Fire alarm went off due to cooking - call cleared

5:42 - No injuries reported in MVA - deputies en route

5:42 - Strong and Highland hospitals code red

5:47 - Vehicle lockout at Airport Marriot

5:49 - 81 year old man arm bleeding after dialyses

5:57 - 911 hang up call

5:57 - Maintenance inventory drill at all stations 1900 hours

6:03 - Bleeding arm controlled

6:04 - Weather update - wind at 5 MPH, temp. 31 degrees

6:05 - 29 year old struck head on steering wheel

6:11 - 2 head injuries reported in MVA, 2 ambulances needed

6:12 - Medic responding to head injury

6:13 - Domestic dispute - Problems with roommate who stole checks

6:14 - Ambulance needed trouble breathing

6:15 - Automatic fire alarm activated - Room 104

6:17 - Burnt food tripped alarm

6:21 - Report of suspicious vehicle and 5 adults looking into windows
6:23 - Male changing tire in dangerous area

6:27 - Female shoplifter in custody - no problems

6:32 - Burnt food confirmed - alarm reset

6:33 - Severe headache by 51 year old - ambulance needed

6:33 - Someone locked out of car

6:34 - Disabled vehicle blocking highway

6:36 - Diabetic problem - ambulance needed

6:44 - MVA report - black pick up

6:46 - Hospitals - Code Red

6:48 - 911 hang up call and criminal mischief reported at same location

6:48 - Trouble breathing - ambulance needed

6:50 - Car in ditch

6:50 - MVA reported on Interloop

6:51 - No one trapped in MVA

6:55 - Male lying in snow, unknown problem, asking for police

6:57 - 41 year old female slipped, possible injuries

6:59 - Assault reported

7:00 - Black male, blue jeans, green jacket - acting irate in Rite Aid

7:02 - Pick Up truck in median, unknown injuries

7:03 - Fire alarm activated

7:05 - MVA report

7:07 - 39 year old female with migraine headache - vital signs stable

7:08 - Natural Gas smell
7:10 - License plate number given for car in ditch

7:11 - MVA on highway

7:16 - MVA, sign taken out, gasoline leak - call fire department

7:17 - Engine 5 back in service

7:19 - EMS needed - possible stroke

7:25 - Vehicle in ditch

7:28 - 2 vehicle MVA reported by ambulance

7:32 - Hospitals code red

I'm assuming that MVA means Multiple Vehicle Accident. Eleven of them in one night. Yikes!

I don't know police codes, but I would like to learn them. I'll have to do some research on the subject.
Also, when I was working on this task it was during a really bad snow storm. I expected to hear about a lot of accidents, but I was really surprised about how many were reported.
