Jedi Master

One day, Lowteck decided it was about time he expressed his love for George Lucas. He decided to present Mr. Lucas with a statue of Yoda, complete with a loving note. Luckily, he didn't have to actually make a statue of Yoda, since there already is one, perched high atop a fountain at Mr. Lucas's top secret San Francisco ILM compound.

Lowteck went with Jeremy to get Mr. Lucas a nice card, a card that would reflect the enormous gratitude they felt toward Mr. Lucas. However, they were too shy to leave their actual names, so signed the card from a "Secret Admirer".

Later that night, they went to gift wrap the statue, only to be thwarted by two security guards in a heated discussion, who happened to be standing right in front of the statue. Bummer.

The next night Lowteck was joined by Anna One and Lank and all three went to the statue again with advanced wrapping techniques. (Basically they pre-wrapped a big box and taped the big card to it.) Lowteck brought a ladder and a couple of poles in case they were needed to achieve Yoda's lofty perch. It felt pretty shady, but love for Lucas drove them on!

After doing some reconnaissance to determine that the two security guards were cozily hanging out about 100 yards away from the statue (although directly in line of sight with it) the trio ventured forth. Luckily, the ladder and poles were not needed, because Lank is a giant and he handily slipped the box over Yoda's long, pointy ears.

A couple of photos, and the trio slipped away into the night, leaving their gift of love for the man who has given so much to all of us.

Won't he be surprised!

This is my dad. His name is Mr. Lucas too.

George Lucas? Really?

I think Lowteck's love is misplaced, but that doesn't stop this completion from being totally awesome.

star wars is great. ESPECIALLY the new ones. yeah you heard me

Espisode 3? Really?

Oh no. You enjoyed the new films? Ugh. You don't mind that George raped our childhood memories? You don't mind that the evil characters are only evil because we're told they are? Because they have horns and black and red skin? Because I want my evil characters to do evil things. You don't mind that Anakin turned to the dark side "just because"? "Go kill that room full of children" "Why?" Because I said so" "Oh, well if you say so, then all right"

Next time I'm up there prepare for a debate my friend.

The old ones were full of awful and dated cheesiness. In fifteen or so more years you'll all realize that episodes one through three were no different and equally awesome.

"Luke, I am your father"

"But uncle, I want to go to town and pick up some power converters"

I agree the old ones were cheesy, and I think that the only really good one in the bunch was Episode 5. And that's because Lawrence Kasdan is a better film-maker than George will ever hope to be. The original was cheesy and very dated, but it had heart at least. The good guys were good and the bad guys were really evil, and evil because they did evil things. And the grand mythic storytelling was right on, it was like they copied it right out of Campbell's book. The new ones just look pretty. There's no substance. It would be like opening your awesome gift, and not finding a statue of Yoda under it. Pretty wrapping with nothing underneath.
