I carry "The Dancing Kids" with me wherever I go, and photograph their adventures all around the globe. They have a little carrying case that they live in, and I keep crazy glue in there for accidents, as well as blue tac for the less "level" settings that i may place them in. When the case gets worn down, I buy them a new one in the style of the city I happen to be in. In New Orleans, we bought a beaded purple case, That case fell apart in Tokyo, so they were treated to a new clear plastic box used for trading cards. (Thus far, it's proved to be pretty hardy)
I bought them over 15 years ago at a cool shop called "Little Ricky's" down on 3rd Street and 1st Ave in NYC. Sadly, the store is no more. Their "actual" vocation are as cake toppers, and I bought them with another pair that I call "Talking Kids" - two teenagers on the phone, which are exactly like the ones I had on my sweet 16 birthday cake (which was in the shape of a phone - how cool was that?)
The colors are starting to wear off of them, and they are caked with crazy glue. I found a new set of "Dancing Kids" on ebay ( The actual name for them is "Swinging Teens") and bought them immediately. They are blonde, and I just can't warm up to them. So I keep repairing and crazy glue-ing my kids.
"My kids". That's how i refer to them. Which is fine, except I don't have flesh and blood kids. So, when I refer to "my kids", people's faces light up and they say all joyful, "You have kids!?"... and then I get to explain to them that what I am talking about are tiny plastic dolls that live in my purse and give me great joy.

Perhaps you could encase them in Lucite like I hear Walt Disney was.

I used to live at 7th and 1st, right near the shop where you got those kids! I really like that they have their own case - like a cat carrier.
exquisite form... the chips and tabasco tickle my funny bone.
