Player Photo Anagrams by rongo rongo

July 16th, 2008 11:19 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Anagram your username or player name using the Internet Anagram Generator (or better yet, do it yourself).

Choose at least one interesting anagram from the list and create a physical representation of it such as a photograph, movie, or sound recording. Share this representation with someone else, but do not tell them the anagram inspired it. Now ask them to give your work a title. Finally, anagram the title, and choose an anagram that might be used to describe your player photograph.

If none of these anagrams feel appropriate, make a physical representation of this second anagram, and repeat the process as many times as you choose - or as many times as it takes to end up with a good anagram for your player photo.

I quickly realized that I'd have to use my username for anagramming raw material, since "rongo rongo" has very few anagrams. Pleasingly enough, the photo caption anagram for the physical representation describes both my player photograph and username. (Details in pictures)

Though there were many fascinating anagrams for "nuclearpolymer", I went with "men clearly pour", recruiting Bunny Dragon and other male guests at a weekend dinner party to pose. I like the way that this photo captures the water globs cascading from the top pourer. When I asked Listener to caption this picture, he said "Men pouring badly"

The anagram of "men pouring badly" that I picked was "a problem undying", since art is one of humanity's perpetual concerns. I made this photo in a pseudo cave-painting style, using sugar sprinkles, to go with the University of Aesthematics group and imply continuity with some of the earliest known examples of human art.

Additionally, my username, "nuclearpolymer" refers to my thesis work in synthesizing a polymer for nuclear waste remediation --- nuclear contamination is a different sort of undying problem. I worked on making polymers functionalized with the cobalt dicarbollide anion, which selectively binds to cesium, a significant component of some types of nuclear waste.
