Character development time
(if you want to skip straight to the praxis, then scroll down to the bold)
I never planed for sf0 to become this to me. I thought it would be a fun side game to lighten up a busy life. Needless to say, it's a bit more then that now... I've started to task without meaning it, get to know other players, study the history of the eras, dream about the high score task etc.
It was over spring break when i decided to become a different kind of player. I'm going to be the kind of player who can inspire others, as i have been inspired. I'm going to take every task (hopefully) to the level it deserves. and i'm going to push myself to the edge of my abilities to do so
This task will show that i'm serious. Or that i'm seriously trying to task with my all.
This is the first task i signed up for. I couldn't think of anything to do it justice. I'm not even sure this will do it justice, but i tried.
Listen to this while watching
It's part of the experience
Something you've done more times then you can count: The splits
In a way you've never heard of: For an hour and 20 minutes (until i cant anymore)
I've tried marathon splitting before this. I made it for 20 minutes. This is 4 times as long.
All three splits will count. (right left and center) and i will allow myself to trasfer between them. I think this will also count for this but it's not in a public place so i don't know. I was forced to stop, partly because body's aren't meant to do that and my camera stopped.
Anyway, even uploading the video for this task was a task in itself. It was 1,012mb. which is over every conceivable posting limit known to human kind. So i went into a video editing program and made it small (and muted it) so i could fit it somewhere. Youtube crashed when i tried
the hour and 20 minute long video is proof, not entertainment. please don't waste an hour and a half watching it. for your own sanity!! it's muted so you can't hear my cries of pain and the conversations with my friend, which aren't to be posted online. anyway, i may try again (my original goal was two hours) but this is good for now. anyway, a two hour long video will be impossible to upload.
i spent the majority of the time playing crash bandicoot 2 (cortex strikes back) on my friends PS3 (though it's a PS1 game) and near the end, he got me pizza. I made it 28% of the way though the game. It's not a perfic 180 split, but it's around 170 degrees. Which is enough for me.
It was a test of will. This has been a long time goal of mine, for years before i started here. As i said, my record was 20 minutes (the song that is playing is the song i would practice to.) I was seriously considering contortion as a career. I almost moved to San Francisco for college, because of the circus school, but mom didn't let me. Since coming to portland, i've almost forgotten about my body in leu of double majoring, debate, student publications, running for SFC, loosing one of my best friends etc. The truth is that i'm a person, and my body is just as important as my mind. this was a reminder
My legs got fused where they were. Had my friend lift my legs slowly and gently and bend them to get them out. my knees ceased up a little. Though it hurt, it hurt more to change. However, after awhile you have to learn to deal with it or go absolutely crazy. (kind of like getting out of a dysfunctional relationship)
The truth is that i didn't think i could do it. and in a way i didn't (i didn't make it two hours.) But i made it much longer then i expected.
