Must it be real food? I play with food just about every day. Fake, plastic (but disconcertingly realistic-looking) fruits and vegetables. These are the only toys that both of my boys (1 and nearly 6) will both play with. And play we do. We hurl, catapult, and roll these waxy prototypes. We use them as surrogates for swords, baseball bats, light sabers. Sometimes we also pretend they are real food.
