Disobedient Nature by Secret Agent

April 9th, 2008 11:54 AM / Location: 51.512122,-0.031097

INSTRUCTIONS: Search for, find, document an example of nature refusing to yield to or blending itself into a construction of modern man.

Document with photos when possible.

Examples should document situations where man has put up some restraint for nature and nature has disobeyed. While trees or other permanent plants are preferable, a basic example would be plants that grow in the cracks of the sidewalk.

Following my recent spat with LC-A, I decided to finally go out and get a digital camera. Thus, some quick and dirty photo tasking was in order to get to know the beast a little. More will be added to this once the memory card arrives in the post and I can store more than ten photos at a time, but I wanted to cross this off the list.

**************************

Every secret agent needs a safe house. I'm lucky to have a fine one, but that doesn't mean I let myself feel safe. The sycamores in the churchyard wave their limbs menacingly (it's even menacing from space). But it is from the other side that I am under attack.

Agents in the field report that the situation may be quite serious--we face a massive enemy.

There seem to have been previous incursions. Lucky for me they were successfully repulsed.

Nevertheless, the current attack is on several fronts. The bulk of the shoots seem to have tried to invade using the cover of the blinds, solidifying their position around the frame before moving into the rest of the room.

But they have already made advances through the middle of the window.

Agents! To arms! Take up your secateurs, defy the overwhelming ivy menace.

Ooh, some vines did that at my old house! Came creeping through the window and wound themselves round my string of bells!
