Make A Task: The Task by Sean Mahan

March 15th, 2006 1:33 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make a task for the game San Francisco Zero. To add a task:

1) Go to your character page. You know, your home base (click your photo in the upper right once you're logged in).

2) Look in the second row of navigation up at the top. Click "add task".

3) You'll be taken to a form where you can name and describe your task, give it a location in SF (if it's location-based), assign it to one of the five groups (or "general"), and suggest a required score and the number of points the task awards.

4) You can add more than one task - they'll all be listed on your home page - but you can only get these 30 points once.

Once you add your task, you can complete this task. We'll make this automatic one of these days...

In the news:
U.S. authorities have seized 250 counterfeit bank notes in
billion-dollar denominations from a man who smuggled money into
the country. The 250 bogus Federal Reserve notes had dates and
were stained to make them look old, but no such currency exists,
according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
spokeswoman. According to The Associated Press, the man has
been charged with cash smuggling, but no charges have yet
been filed in connection with the 1934 issue counterfeit notes
.
"A billion is a substantial number. We want to ensure that no one
was duped or fleeced by the passing of these documents," the
customs spokeswoman said.
(emphasis added)
So damn the (apparently non-existent) consequences - let's make counterfeit money! Only in denominations that do not exist, of course. Perfecting the $33 bill might well invite scrutiny, but is it a crime? What is the boundary between novelty (e.g. Reagan $10mil bill) and "counterfeit" (above)? Use your fake money in an exchange with a fellow player - is this a crime? What about if you were to leave your copies-of-nothing lying around the city - are you introducing counterfeit currency into the system? Finally, if you put your own face on it, are you incriminating yourself or are you making the fake absurd enough for the State to ignore?

The $0 bill, parody bills, alternative and local currencies, hour notes, exploring SF Bay Area currency/barter systems... Is there a use for an SF0 currency?

I read a book a few years ago on JSG Boggs, who made art currency and was prosecuted by the government. Here's one:
